You
Hi kid,
I'm back in the office today and though I'm busy, it seems calm compared to a hectic, project filled long weekend. I often think of things I want to share with you early in the week that seem to fade by the time I start my letter on Saturday or Sunday night.
I just wanted to let you know of the Sprit I felt yesterday on our call. Your joy as you described your conference and your interview with the General Authority really came through. The gladness you expressed for your companion was so sweet, The way you are always humble in talking about yourself is remarkable. In that moment I felt so grateful for you and your willingness to trust the Lord, to get over yourself, and to serve.
I know you ain't perfect kid. I know you still have distractions, imperfect thoughts, temptations, and frustrations. That's life, that's what we signed up for here on earth. but the Spirit I felt as we were chatting was testament to me on the power of serving a mission. I am so glad you went, so pleased that you endured. Mostly though, I am so proud at the progress that is so evident in your character. By forgetting yourself for two years the Lord has given you so many gifts. Use those with confidence as you return and you are going to be amazed at what you can do.
Sorry for the sap Jake, but sometimes it flows (even though others in the family really can't stand it). I have every confidence that you are going to finish up strong.
lyity,
pops
