Fllluuussshhh…

 Oh hello Elder Midland!

How was transfer? What are your comps like? Where are they from? I see that midland was really hot last week, looks like it will be downgraded to just plain old hot this week. I’m looking forward to a report tomorrow.

So, today was church, two brothers spoke, the Carter boys from across the street. I don’t know them well because i think they mostly live with their mom. One going on his mission to Argentina and the other reporting on his mission in Guatemala. It’s interesting to see the difference that two years makes.

Just after we got home I heard an interesting cry from your mother. She was in the bathroom. When I asked what was wrong she said that she had flushed her watch down the toilet. I understood what her words meant, but my brain could not understand why she would be telling me such a thing. Apparently, her band had a faulty clasp, and has had for some time. She said that as she went to flush her wrist brushed the toilet and in went her watch. She watched it go past the point of no return. I told her to shove her hand in to see if it had settled in the trap. She declined. As I was going to the garage to get the drain snake I admonished Jacob to only marry someone who he was completely in love with because otherwise there would be no way he’d be willing to take such nasty measures for her. I ran the snake down the toilet in the slim hopes that it would snag the watch. No joy. That’s literally $150 down the drain. Reminded me of the time she dropped her phone directly down the sewer at the sandy rec center.

This afternoon we met for a picnic for aunt Laurie at a park near grandmas house. It was fine. I feel that the family is so big I don’t really feel like part of it. But the sun was out and I was with mom and your brothers, so life is good.

Yesterday was a fairly normal Saturday. No camping for the first time in a couple of weeks. I was planning to do some chores but the first football game of the college season was on. I didn’t intend to watch it, but it was a good game, Florida State versus Georgia Tech. It was being played in Ireland. Georgia Tech got the upset win and it was just fun watching a game with your brothers and mom.

After, mom and I did some grocery shopping at Winco and Lee’s market. That may seem boring, but with how busy your mother is lately, it’s my glory to be with her no matter what we may be doing. I guess my advice to you similar to my advice to Jacob is—if you marry someone that you love madly even the mundane is fun.

In the afternoon uncle Tim had his football party. We had also been given tickets to the Bee’s baseball game which started at the same time. It turned out to be a win-win though because we had an excuse to not stay forever at the party and to shorten the game. I don’t have a long attention span for baseball, but I do enjoy being out on a beautiful summer night with your mom and brothers. The Bee’s lost, but there was a not bad fireworks show after. Mom even snuggled up with me, it felt like a real date.

The week itself was pleasantly uneventful. On Tuesday mom went with the sisters to teach a kid a missionary discussion. She was this boys kindergarten teacher so she knows him and his parents. We heard that his dad wanted him to wait until he was 18, but they are still teaching him, so who knows what can happen. Also, I heard from Tara, the recent convert in our ward. She was asking about the Riverton Genealogy center. She mentioned briefly that her friend Craig, who started the discussions last week was going to get baptized. Wow, what exciting news. I wasn’t able to talk to them today, but they were at sacrament meeting.

This week is week 1 in the Utes season. We play SUU on Thursday night. I’m not sure if we’re going or watching on tv, but I will send you updates. An ideal game for me would be the Utes getting up by three touchdowns in the first quarter and Isaac Wilson finishing the game. But we’ll see. Almost every commentator or College Game Day yesterday has the Utes in the top 4 playoff spot, and the ones that don’t have them in the first round. That’s a lot of expectations, I’m used to the Utes being the underdogs. So this will be an exciting if not nerve wracking season. You’ll be home for most of next season, which is kinda hard to comprehend. Oh, and I got a new Ute flag, which I find rather handsome.

That also reminds me that Ben is already contacting his potential grad school professors, which is also exciting. But, as sentimental as your dad is, it’s a little bitter sweet to think of you guys far away from me Even though I sincerely want you guys to be happy and successful.

Well my boy, I love you and I look forward to hearing about your new situation,

Pops
