Simpson Springs
Oh hi Benja!
Rain, first time in a month. You’d think we live in a desert or something. It cold today...good cold, refreshing and clean with all the smoke cleansed out of the air. Good open window sleeping weather.
Speaking of desert, we camped out on Friday night out at Simpson Springs. We had the same exact campsite that we had the night the coopers house burned down. Aaron and Max met us there. We got a late so we missed sunset and our little den of coyotes were no where to be heard. We even hit a couple of pot holes on the way out so hard we rattled the top. It was also very dusty out there.
I’ve been a little worried about the Jeep because of the leak, but it held fine and the Jeep did great. I tend to magnify the problems of my machinery sometimes. There is a little problem with the lights...my hope is that it’s only a bad connection or something. We ate Wendy’s on the way out, had some snacks once we got there. The next morning we got up and warmed up mom’s breakfast burritos on some hot coals. I scorched the tortillas a little (a lot), but the guts were warm gooey and delicious.
The next morning we shot our 22s like we did before. It was fun, but it seems like every time I go shooting lately all I do is baby sit everyone. I shouldn’t complain, I feel fortunate that I can do that, but selfish me wants to work on getting my guns sighted in and building better technique. I’m not super good doing stuff like that alone, maybe that’s why I hate golf.
My speakers are coming along nicely if a little slowly. I have all the parts cut, the circle holes cut for the drivers. I’m learning some new techniques, I made a circle jig for my little router, I bought a cheap dowel jig. I will need to build the cross-overs and learn how to finish mdf. It’s a fun project. I look forward to hearing them once done. I hope it’s worth the effort.
Uncle Aaron bought a new (to them) Jeep. It’s a gorgeous 2018 wrangler rubicon. It’s nice. But it’s the new model and it’s smaller than mine. His old one was becoming very unreliable so I understand why he wanted a new one. I hope I can work the bugs out of mine so I can avoid the same temptation. The fact that it’s smaller has made the gladiator more appealing to me. Their cost makes it less appealing though.
This week at work has been pretty hectic, but I enjoy being busy. Honestly, even when I feel stress from work I can only feel grateful. My one year work anniversary was last week. Its been an interesting year. I’ve worked more than half of it from home. Speaking of jobs, I had an old coworker reach out asking me to send in my resume for a job opening at her work. I sent it in, and it looks like a great opportunity, but I’m not going to put any of the energy worrying about this like I did when I put in for jobs last year.
We’re planning our fall break activities. These will be the last things we’ll have to do without you. We may go to hovenweep, maybe lagoon. We’ll see what happens and what the weather looks like.
Last week Rodney came over. As we were chatting it came to mind to tell him that the missionaries were offering service. It came out pretty awkward, but it came out. He kinda non answered, but he came over yesterday and chatted, so at least I did no lasting damage. Maybe I can get another inspiration to do it again.
We met our new neighbor across the street. Super nice guy. His name is Ray Carter, has four boys. Just younger than you guys. We have a really great street of great neighbors.
Well, tomorrow we find out if you’re expecting any changes for your last transfer. Bot your mom and I were transferred our last transfer. Sure like Mondays since we get to hear from you.
I love you Ben. I feel compelled to tell that to you boys. I’m so grateful and proud of you boys every day.
