Four Chocolate Chip Cookies
Oh hi cute fella,
I’m sitting here watching a movie with your mom and Ben about a black ex slave member of the church. Yea, about as corny as you imagine. But I like it. Joe’s playing drums. My belly is bloated with four perfect chocolate chip cookies that mom made for me. I’m sure that at my age and weight I should not be eating four cookies at once, but holy freaking crap were they perfect. There may be no better thing in the world than the warm buttery sweetness of homemade chocolate chip cookies. For dinner, mom made the delicious breaded pork chops, Joey made the mashed potatoes. We are living the good life Bakey.
This week has been another hot, uneventful week around here. Work has been a little less crazy than the last several. The highlights, if you can call them that, the little white Jeep passed emissions, which is always a relief. We’re helping bishop Snarr plan this weeks priest’s camp out. It’s nice now that mom’s done with girls camp. She’d been so preoccupied with that since school let out. Now she’s back, and I love her attention. I just have a few weeks to enjoy it until school starts, then it’s George who?
In sports, there might be another giant trade for Mitchell this week. Danny Ainge has the attention of the entire nba after the Gobert trade. They are freaking out by how much the jazz got for him, and if they get the same for Mitchell, it will affect all trades in the future. I kinda think that’s cool. UCLA is in trouble with the governor of California for leaving the PAC12. In California there is a system of universities that are all considered state universities. So ucla and Cal are technically connected, like siblings. He says that by leaving, ucla will damage cal financially. I’m sure nothing will come of it, but it was interesting. All I really care about is the Utes having a strong season, and I really think they could.
We’ve been planning an October family trip. We thought about going to the Tetons. But then I thought about that trip to Colorado we took last year. It would fun to go with your mom and Joey, so we might do that instead. I really need to get out more. I started off pretty good this spring, but now it’s been pretty quiet. I’ve even had thoughts of selling the 4Runner and trailer. But I think I’ll hold onto them till next year, maybe we’ll have more chances to get out. There is one of those big adventures happening over the Florida game. But I’m so looking forward to it. The trip was going to cross Utah from north to south all on dirt, I’ve always wanted to do that trip. But the way things are going, college football may never be the same. At least our league won’t be. I just want the Utes to destroy USC and UCLA. the bettors has USC the favorite to win the National championship, what idiots. The experts all say that USC and UCLA will be constant mid pack in the Big 10. Oh, and one of the Arizona schools called the big12 a JUCO league, that made me laugh.
I think I’m getting to be a lazy old man Jacob. Yesterday was so hot I didn’t feel like doing any projects outside. So mom and I did errands. Ben was appalled when he found out what we did. Tell me how boring this sounds. Car wash, Home Depot, winco, Costco, Sam’s club, Walmart, then Swig. Oh, and later we went to hobby lobby and to Walmart again. The thing is, that’s the most time I’ve had with your mom this summer without her answering 59 texts from the young woman. I love being with her. We went to that chicken finger place in Draper for lunch with Joey and grandma and grandpa. After Joe left, grandma wanted a shake at iceberg. They were really good.
Today church was nice. Joey needs to get more assertive with those idiots in priest’s quorum, but after he conducted we snuck out to go see Ben give his lesson in elders quorum. It was the best lesson that group has had in a long time. You guys are all natural teachers. He ended his lesson with that story of my grandma that I sent you that link to the other day https://www.ldsliving.com/im-a-pioneer-three-extraordinary-sisters-in-the-churchs-first-spanish-speaking-branch/s/10822.
That’s all I have for today Jacob. I pray for you every day. I think of you always. You’re the first thing I think about when I wake up in the morning or even in the middle of the night. I’m not worried about you, but I hope you understand the amazing growth you are going through. You know your not perfect, so does God. But he knows your potential, and your goodness and your desire and your abilities. So trust Him that you can do the things you want to do in the way you think you should be doing it. Work hard kid, and be happy in that work.
I love you kid,
Pops
