Oh Hi Mr. Piano Man!
Yes, we saw that amazing performance, but only luckily. You see your mother thought it was spam, and when she asked me I just said, “Well, if you think it’s spam then it’s probably spam.” And didn’t think anything else about it. But she thought about it and went and found it and boy were we all glad she did. You should thank me because I discouraged her from posting it on social media, but you’ll probably curse me because I did post it to the Elder Rivera Group Chat which consists of me, mom, grandma, aunt Patti, and aunt Stella. They were all duly charmed and impressed. I wonder what other songs you played for the group. It was interesting to see how many missionaries were there. And that member has an impressive piano, but not a very impressive voice. I’ll bet it was fun to play.
It’s been snowing for the last two days, not continuously, but in intermittent heavy squalls. Tonight’s was impressive as we got several inches in only a couple of hours. Mom was supposed to go out with her fancy ladies tonight and I was going to take your brothers for burgers. Instead mom stayed home and she and Ben made homemade burgers and fries, I hope it’s a blizzard every night. On second thought, maybe not. Last night the storm knocked the train out so I went to pick up Jake in Murray. The weather and traffic was sketchy. Tonight though, it was substantially worse. I got the feeling after dinner to take your brothers to shovel grandmas walk. The drive was much, much worse than last night. I’m always amazed to see cars off the road on one side and to also see idiots in pickups, they are always pickups and usually fords, passing by on the other side, way too fast.
I’m glad we went to go see your grandma because I could tell she was feeling down from her chemo and a mild cold. She asked me to give her a blessing which always feels like a compliment coming from someone as close to the Spirit as she is. I think she was also a little nervous as she’s going back to work tomorrow. I think she really missed the busyness of work, and I think it will be good for her. I just don’t want her to feel too much stress over it.
I missed you doing the shoveling with us, though your brothers are more than capable. I love any possible time I get with you boys as I know that it’s becoming an increasingly rare commodity.
Got some fun news from Ben today, his lab job is sending him to the same dental convention as I’m going to in Chicago towards the end of February. I need to make my arrangements next but I’m really hoping we can have some fun together.
Right now Ben’s playing guitar, mom is in bed, snuggling with Argeorqui no doubt, and Jake and I are watching the jazz game. They are currently smoking Denver and are on a decent winning streak. They’re kinda fun to watch right now, but as they’re 22 points ahead and I’m tired, I’m not sure I’m going to make the 4th quarter.
Love you kid. Be safe and do something hard every day.
Pops.
