Welcome Kermit!

Conference just ended, it was good, we need to get to the temple more, and now i feel guilty for not being super excited about mom signing us up to be temple workers. Oh, and I’m not saying he looks young, but it’s hard for me to think that President Neilson is almost 100 years old.

Usually on Saturdays I’ll choose a project in the garage to work on while listening to conference, somehow I listen better that way. Yesterday though, there was a lot to do. We finally got the check for the little car so I went to buy a new, or rather a replacement, for the little jeep. I found a 2016 KIA Soul, In kind of a slime green color. It was $300 more than the check for the little jeep, before fees, with about 88,000 miles on it. I’m not sure how excited Jacob is about it, but it drives better than the little jeep and in my eyes anyway, slightly less ugly. I got up to meet the guy at 8, drove two cars, decided on the cheaper one (shocking I know). Drove home to go poo and pick up Jacob, get McDonald’s, go to the bank for a cashiers check, then go back to the place to sign all the paperwork and pick up the car. I’m glad that’s over with and I hope it works out for at least as long as the little jeep did. I also hope to spend slightly less time working on this one, fingers crossed.

I just got back from a little walk. I took the Jordan River trail south under the Porter Rockwell bridge. They diverted the trail to go under the new bridge. It’s fun to see all of the structures and engineering that goes into something like that. I was half thinking of walking to see grandpa’s grave but the trail now diverts through that new neighborhood and I didn’t feel like walking through that tonight though. I saw the Blattmans on my  way back and they asked about you and mom. They’re some of the nicest people I know.

On the way to the park I always pass a sign describing the pioneer that shares the name of my childhood friends dad, Jesse Fox. I reached out to my friend Randy and it turns out that the guy in the sign is my buddies great great grandfather. Pretty cool.

Your mother is making very good progress even if some things are still hard for her. She had her first appointment post surgery on Thursday and everything looks really good. The PA even helped mom feel more calm at night by telling her about her afib and how normal it is to feel scared because of it. Also, for the first time in 53 years your mother does not have a heart murmur. I know it’s technology, education, training, and experience that makes it so mom can be healed, nevertheless, it’s still a miracle.

I must admit that I didn’t hear much of conference yesterday because of the car deal. I also had to go to RCWilley to order a new washer and dryer. Our dryer went out again and started to squeal, that plus all the knocking from the washer I just decided it was time. Maybe because I’m doing all the laundry right now, but I’m having to dry everything by draping it over the couches or bathroom overnight to dry. I think you’re brothers are just wearing soggy clothes.

On the way home though I did hear most of Elder Hollands talk on the radio. At first I didn’t even know it was him. But man, what I heard was so powerful. As soon as it’s posted I’m looking forward to rewatching it. It reminded me of the talk I heard and have never forgotten by Elder Bruce R. Mckonkie. I’m sure Elder Hollands will carry similar significance in our church.

Yesterday uncle Steve and aunt Susan took the mom’s entire family to dinner at Chuck-O-Rama. I think all of them went, there’s a lot of them too. It was very generous and it was fun to go back, I’m not sure when the last time was that we went, but it seems like grandpa was still around.

Today your brothers and I went to grandmas conference brunch. Her food was delicious but it was as crowded as ever over there. There wasn’t even a place to sit in the basement. There was a sea of babies down there. So we kind of ate and left.

Well my boy, I hope conference was a good experience for you. One down and three to go. That last one will be close to your return, so that will be an exciting one. I love you and miss you kid,

Pops
