Jordan’s Wedding

 Oh hi kid!

Well let’s see, another week.

On the job front, no word from the church, but at least on the web site it says, “Still under consideration.” So there’s that. On Thursday I got a call from another company for a first interview on Zoom. I’m not sure how the fit will be, but I’m encouraged by it. It’s tomorrow morning, so I’ll update you if you can call tomorrow. I also had a little freelance last week, so not too bad. It’s amazing how we are blessed, not always how we think we will, but we are being taken care of.

The main points of the week were Thursday and Friday. It was the best distraction I’ve had since the holidays. Thursday was Ben’s graduation, mom convinced him to go. We at the U by 8. It was in the Huntsman Center, which I will always believe is so superior to the Marriott Center or the Delta center. The commencement was also much better than than moms, there were two lines for the graduates, the speakers only spoke for less than five minutes, and it was over in under an hour. Afterwards, we had reservations for lunch at the Capital Grill. I wanted to do something nice for Ben, his accomplishment is a big deal. Grandma, aunt Patti, and Artie came with us. We got out kinda early, and our reservation wasn’t for a while. We frustrated your brothers by driving all over looking for a place that opened earlier, but all the fancy places were all busy with graduation celebrations. So we parked early and walked around the City Creek Center. We spent most of the time in Deseret Book, not the most exciting place, but it was fun to be together. The Capital Grill was good, we got various steaks and such. Artie ordered seared tuna for an appetizer. Seared tuna is pretty much fresh, raw tuna lightly seared on either side. It had a crust of sesame seeds and some good sauce smeared around the plate. It’s the closest mom had had to sashimi, she liked it, we all liked it. Mom and Ben got free desert because of their graduation,  it was flourless chocolate cake and cheesecake, both were really good. I’m livin’ pretty fancy for a bum Joe Poe. We stopped by the big Costco on the way home to get ready for the meal today at grandmas house, more on that later.

After we got home I finished up a freelance project, mom went to class, then I mowed the lawn. Mom’s class is pretty intense this semester, they are cramming a whole semester into six weeks. So I have enjoyed being with her, and I’m going to miss her for these next six weeks, I’ll try to stay out of her way.

Friday was Jordan’s wedding, all day. We picked up grandma and Jewlynn and were at the Bountiful Temple by 8:30. It was a really beautiful day for the wedding, but it was still a long drawn out morning. His new wife Liz, has a big family, they aren’t super nice either. Jacob was the Best Man. He had to wear blue pants, a white shirt, and this is the fun part, suspenders and a bow tie. Actually, he looked very handsome. So handsome, he got a lot of attention from the bridesmaids, one even gave him her number at the reception. That sure got the attention of your cousins, you know how they like to talk. Jake’s cool factor did go up with the family members.

After wedding grandma took us to McDonald’s. I don’t know why, but having grandma take us to McDonald’s is just as fun for your old dad as it was for you guys when you were little kids. I had the first Quarter Pounder with Cheese that I’ve had for a long time, it was fresh, hot and delicious. Grandma also got us hot strawberry cream pies, so good.

Now that we were nice and satisfied we went to uncle Tim’s ward for a brunch. I guess when we stopped at McDonald’s we suspected that because aunt Lithia was buying the luncheon food, it might be a little light, wrong, she ordered Olive Garden, a lot of Olive Garden. Other than it being a little cold, it wasn’t bad. There were a lot of people there. There was a group of super obnoxious young guys there, turns out they were Jordan’s sales bros from his summer sales job last summer. Sales guys are all the same—super obnoxious. It bugs me when they are compared to missionaries.

After the luncheon we dropped of grandma and Jewlynn, we came home and hung out. Jacob had to go to the reception early, they took a zillion pictures. We went when Ben got home. The reception was in a nice enough place, there were a lot of people there. I must say, her family don’t seem super nice. The ladies that were serving the cake acted like the were giving you their organs and one of her uncle’s was rude to grandma for blocking the cake line. I thought your brothers and Alex were going to rough him up when they found out. Later Jacob was surrounded by girls and all of your cousins were watching. It was awkwardly funny, and he gave us a subtle bird behind his back. I kinda think your boy cousins, even the married ones, were jealous.

Yesterday was a quiet Saturday. Mom went to breakfast with here fancy friends, I weeded the garden. Jacob went to Provo to play basketball. Ben and I went grocery shopping. Mom had a bunch of gift cards from school from Texas Roadhouse, so we went there to celebrate Ben’s birthday since he’ll be in San Francisco with Spencer on his real birthday. Plus, mom is going to be super busy with homework during the week.

Today was a normal Sunday. We went to grandmas house for dinner. Uncle Tim asked her to make tacos, enchiladas, nachos, cookies, and four pies. Then he thanked us for coming…how generous. But it was fun being together. I really like uncle Tim’s kids, especially Alex and Nick.

Well, that’s about it for this time. I love you kid, chat tomorrow!
