Never, Ever Go to Big O

 Oh hi my handsome son!

Another week down, they seem to be piling up too. How was zone conference?

This week was busy for me. No job, but busy. For mom and Jacob too. Jacob started his new job at vivint. So far, he’s not impressed. I told him to go back to his painting job, he’s thinking about it. He hates sales people and I can say that I understand why.

Ben got home from San Francisco on Thursday, he seemed to have enjoyed it. Mom was really busy with school she had two presentations on Thursday, but she’s incredible as you know. I had a good amount of freelance work, and it’s growing, but I need a lot more if it’s going to replace my job. The projects are all going well, but there is one, a simple one, that is kicking my but because I’m designing it in Microsoft Word AKA, satan’s favorite software.

On Tuesday night Jacob and I went to go weed grandmas front garden. Every time we help her she feeds us. This time we tried a new chicken restaurant in sandy, it was pretty good. I had Jacob bring grandma’s little car home. She had taken it to Big O for tires and the mechanic told her she needed $3,000 in repairs. BS. He told her to NEVER go back there. This had happened a while ago so I had ordered all the parts which came on Monday. So on Wednesday night I did the front brakes, it went okay. The old ones were still good, probably could have been okay for another year or so.

Wednesday there was a job fair at The University of Utah. I met a friend from my networking group before to, well, network. I have  a contact for him for an interview, so that was fruitful. The actual job fair was really busy. I didn’t find a job, but I made a lot of good contacts to follow up on. I was mostly looking for companies that need guys like me and I did find several.

Thursday Ben came home from his trip and I picked up him and Spencer. After we watched the end of Andor. It turned out to be a pretty good series and a great lead in to Rogue One, which we watched last night. The series made it even better.

Friday mom had the night off from the temple. We were going to go to temple night with the ward, but mom has been getting up at five every morning to study, and as a result of not getting enough sleep she came down with a cold. So mom made delicious chicken fajitas, she made me the best chicken quesadilla I ever had, so good. Then mom and I went to Sam’s club.

Saturday was another work day. I’m so grateful for busy Saturdays. That’s the time when I feel most normal, not like an unemployed guy. I started on changing the belts on her car. I missed you while I was working on that. It reminded me of the time I was changing them on the little jeep and I got so frustrated, then you came out and calmly figured it out. Grandma’s Sentra was not as frustrating as the Compass, I would have done that job in an hour, but I had ordered the wrong belt so I had to drive to Salt Lake to exchange it. As an aside, I strangely like parts stores. After I got the belts done, I adjusted one of the front brakes, then did the rear drum brakes. I dislike drum brakes. But thats when I got really upset over because those brakes shoes were nearly brand new. I went ahead and changed them anyway since I had the new parts, but I can’t understand how the mechanic can lie and try to cheat someone like your grandma, I’d like to beat the sh** out of that guy (sorry elder). After I got it all put back together I took it for a test drive and it all seemed good.

Today was pretty normal for a Sunday. Mom stayed home to rest which made Argeorqui very happy. Mom made tostadas for dinner, then we took grandma’s car back to her. It was fun to chat with her for a while, I’m so grateful that we have her.

Well kid, that’s the week, I sure love you.

Pops.
