The Mystery House and the long trip home
Hello handsome Elder Benjamin,
Today was the first of our two day trip home. We’re laying here at the Winnimucca motel 6 (NOT luxury like none other as Joseph likes to say). I wanted to keep going, but I’m tired and it’s icy, I thought that a bad combination so we stopped here about 8.
This morning we drove past the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose. It was really a neat tour. They say the movie was only inspired by the House, which you could understand, but they were also pretty true to the look and feeling of the place. We have a post card for you, but we’ll probably be home before it gets into the mail box.
We decided to drive through San Francisco on the way home. We didn’t stop at all, but we did cross the Golden Gate Bridge. I have no idea if you’ll ever be within 10 miles of anything we saw, but it was neat to think of you there.
Crossing back over Donner’s summit was a lot more treacherous than on the way over. Snow packed for over 30 miles. It was nearly white out conditions. Mom’s car did ok, we didn’t have to use the chains we bought so I can return them .
Well, I just looked outside and it’s snowing hard. I really wanted to get home tonight so o was praying pretty hard about what to do. Glad we stopped. We’ll see if it’s cleared any by morning.
I sure love you kid. You are missed. I probably heard the phrase “if Ben was here” a hundred times this trip.
We’ll let you know what bowl the Utes ended up being invited to tomorrow.
