Snow Day

Hey Ben,

I’m here at work and there are only about half a dozen people here. Mom’s alarm went off at the normal time and two minutes latter she said excitedly “School’s canceled!” So you brothers and mom are warm and cozy at home. When I left this morning, there were about 8 inches of snow on the ground and still snowing. The wind was blowing it all sideways so I imagine there will be some decent drifts later on in the day. I hope I get home and your brothers have cleared the walks, and the Allen’s too. Maybe it’s just me, but this seems like a longer than normal winter. Three years ago about this time is when we one t to Spring canyon. There was snow, but it was sunny.

We enjoyed your letter and I was pleased to see that you relented and sent some photos. You look good and happy, healthy too. Your description of your days activities are of great interest to us, so keep it coming. Yesterday we wondered what you got to eat for Chinese New Year, and if you got to eat with a Chinese family. It’s probably the food that you’d be able to try that I’ve been most curious about since you got your call.

In your photo’s, your companions were wearing sweaters, mom wants to know if you would like one for two of those, we’d be happy to send them. I won’t send anything unless requested though, except maybe on your birthday, then you’ll just have to deal with it.

So I’ve had a couple of conversations with Mr. Rip Mason. He has a lot of projects to work on, but not a job so to speaks. So I’ve spent a bit of time networking with some of my talented and trusted colleagues to get the work done. The company he’s working on is in the pharmaceutical space, so of course I think of you when doing my research. I’m hoping to make enough to get a set of tires for the jeep, and maybe a roof-top-tent for the trailer. Anything else would be gravy.

We’re on the brink of the NBA trade deadline. All the sports radio buzz is around the Jazz training Exum and Rubio, and who knows what else for Coneley, a point guard. I don’t know who that is, but Jacob says it would be awesome. The Utes BB team continue to struggle, it will be a forgettable year. I wonder ion at any point Coach K will be in trouble. The football team is getting a lot of positive buzz, but this time of year it’s actually a little annoying. We are looking forward to the Spring game, but every year it seems like something comes up and we don’t go.

Well Ben, you know I miss you, but you also know that you are right where you are supposed to be. I imagine that some days part of you experience is mundane, but collectively it will be very positive. There are experiences ahead that will be incredibly poingnient. You may not even realize it in the moment, but they will stay with you and you will value them.
