High adventure
Hi kid,
I’m writing this sitting outside of a crappy little cabin in Moab the young men leaders arranged for the teachers Quorum high adventure. Things are remarkably quiet, wonder if I should worry. It’s just after 9 ands it’s cool here. We got here about fiveish. Then I took them to arches through the willow springs back road. We then went straight to hike delicate arch. About 3/4 of the way up it started to rain. It was nice up top, but on the way down it came down heavy. We were soaked by the time we got to the long decent, it rained all the way back to the car. We were soaked to the bone. It sure was fun though. I was initially worried about how hot it would be, that made it just lovely.
We came back to dry off. The campground where we’re staying has some showers. Nothing luxurious mind you, but it felt nice to get off the sweat and rain and grime. We went to McDonald’s and to gas up for dinner. I’m here now in the leaders cabin with brothers knight and Blake. I’m really hoping I get to sleep last because of my, um, alleged snoring issue.
Tomorrow they’re going mountain biking. Joe is using the orange bike, I’m not planning on participating, but I’ll probably hang around. Friday we’re going on a river trip, maybe similar to the one we went on years ago during our magic summer. I need to come home right after that as I get to represent the ward at our Stake baptisms. Everyone else is coming home Saturday morning.
On the job front, I sorta had a second interview with that pr agency. I say sorta because she called 10 minutes late and had to end 5 minutes early. I may have an in person interview next week to make up for it, we’ll see. I also had a strange occurrence. Three things normally happen when you apply for a job online. The most common thing is nothing, nada, you fill it out and then, welllll....poof. The second most common thing, though relatively rare, is that a month to year later you get an automated message replying “thank you for applying but...” you get the picture. The most rare thing is you get a call or an email asking to set up an interview...what crazy magic that is. But on Monday i filled out an application to inter mountain health care, primary children’s hospital for a marketing communications director position, and I got this email entitled: Application Under Consideration-Initial Screening Complete. The body of the email congratulated me on making it past their first screening process (I’m so honored) and that I might be contacted for further consideration. Actually, that would be awesome. I picture myself working up there with you going to school at the U. Fingers crossed.
Well, I think the other leaders are asleep so I’ll finish this off. I’m to the point in my life when memories rush my mind back to so many happy memories with you boys. Those times hiking delicate arch as a family and hanging out in Moab. I’ve been really blessed in my life with such a great family. I’m so grateful for you guys and I love you so much kid. Let’s come down here often with your families too, k? Promise!

P.S. we had the missionaries over, one was from Fort Worth Texas. I admired him because he carries no interest in attending BYU. The other was from Boise Idaho...mom made me promise not to give that smirk. He was quiet but very nice. Of course we talked about how awesome you were, so much so that I think Jacob suffered eye strain from all of the eye rolling he did.
