Independence Day

Happy Independence Day Benjamin!

We just got done with one of our epic grandma/mom/aunt Patti parties. The crowd was smaller this year, as uncle Tim’s family, the coopers and the Harrison’s didn’t come. Mom’s cousin Rod fro CA came. He has that distinctly Heumann trait of being able to chat without rest or provocation, but he is very nice.

Uncle Temmy and Aunt Stella came over. They have a new puppy, his name’s Sammy. He’s an adorable little dog that, in my eyes, is indistinguishable from their last one. But he sure seems to make them happy.

We had Harmon’s fried chicken and grandma brought her potato salad, yum. Grandma, Artie and mom and I brought aerial fireworks. They were impressive, well, until we figured out that the ones I bought were just a big box of fountains. Grandma also brought over her fire pit. We put it on the cement pad behind our back porch and made s’mores, it was really fun.

Today before the party was just a day getting the house ready, you know those days, mom cleans and cooks, I do yard work and clean the front and back porches. Your brothers weeded and cleaned too. I’m not even sure why I wrote this paragraph. Must be late.

I told you about my interview Monday, it went well. This is how I explained it in a text to my friend Chris Bigelow: “7 interviews with a total of 14 individuals. 5 in person, 1 over lunch, 2 on the phone, one with the ceo in New York whom I suspect was either washing the dishes or in the tub from the water sounds. For my last interview, as I was escorted through the executive suite, everyone addressed me by name even though I had only met one of them. The hiring manager has already congratulated me. The reason I’m flaking out today is because they want me to take the Predictive Index, and I’d like to get it done ASAP. I figure I’m about 90% there, hope for an offer next week.” As far as that predictive index, I’m not sure how that went, I hope it doesn’t have too much bearing on the final outcome. I’ll keep you posted.

Tomorrow we were going to go camping with uncle Tim, but he flaked out. Instead we’re going to meet mom’s cousin for lunch and maybe take him down town to temple square. Maybe we can introduce him to some of your slc based colleagues.

Well, lyity kid,

Pops
