Not even a migraine
Oh hi elder RRREEEEEEEEVVVVVEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAA,
I’m not sure I have a lot to tell you today, but I’m burning some time before I go to young mens. It’s magician night and Joe’s at work. You can probably gauge my interest in going by that alone. Mom won’t call the bishop to get me out of it either.

Well, I never finished my letter because there’s not a lot to talk about it. Right now Ben’s going on a rant, a good natured one, about the LOTR TV show not following established lore. I just think it’s a little boring, but I watch it because I love the universe and at last for me, it’s not ruining it.
Today was the big Rod and Beverly shindig at our house. Mom and grandma went all out, brisket and all. I actually found Rod tolerable and I’m not suffering from a migraine. And everyone left before midnight. There was an incident with an overflowing toilet, but rod even dealt with that. I suspect the origin was grandpa or one of your smaller cousins.
Mom worked super hard, as she does, to make everything perfect and everyone happy, as she does. I believe she succeeded, as she does.
So today wasn’t the most relaxing Sunday, even though I got up super late. I gave the lesson today in priest’s quorum, I believe the boys needed a break and maybe an example that teaching a lesson is more than taking turns reading scriptures. I felt like I gave a good lesson, I often use you as an example as I encourage them to go on missions. That probably embarrasses you because you’re humble in and about your service, but you are a great example, whether you see yourself as that or not.
Yesterday was busy too. Ben and I got up early to go on a fall ride with uncle Aaron. We went up to the road between squaw peak and hobble creek canyon. We took fall family portraits up there once when you guys were little, but I doubt you’d remember. We were going to meet at Jim’s at 6:30, but Jim’s doesn’t open till 7, which surprised me. The second surprise was that Aaron was there waiting, on time. Then we went to rancharitos, but their card machine wasn’t working, so we ended up at the McDonald’s drive through. The ride was pretty. The Cooper’s have a Spanish exchange student living with them. He’s a nice enough kid, he seems to mellow out Max a little. We stopped at the Squaw Peak overlook, where max nearly fell of the edge. We saw some deer and heard a coyote. The Spanish boy was scared of bears. There are bears up there, but rarely seen where we were. We finished the trail super early, way too early to even consider two jacks for lunch, it was 9:30.
There was a model kit contest/show in Sandy that I was considering entering. Because we got done with our ride so early ben and I went before we went home. If we hadn’t gone on the ride I may have taken a couple of my kits over. I was I bit intimidated, until we got there. Ben was there for two minutes before he came to tell me that my stuff was just as good as those displayed were. It was fun to see other peoples work, but as is often the case, those people so obsessed with a particular thing are often, let’s say, annoying.
On the way home from there we stopped at IFA for some fertilizer. Joey was working, but we did not see him.
Mom was at one of your cousins various gifts gathering activities, a shower for a wedding or some inevitable offspring, I can’t keep track. I decided to bear down and paint that half wall. Literally no one that came by today noticed. Which I guess is good. While probably pointless, it will ultimately make that room more interesting. It took me about 4 hours and three coats of paint before it was acceptable. My calves are pretty sore from the dozens if not hundreds of climbs up and down that big ladder. I may take a break before the next thing I do in that room, it may be a new fireplace mantle. It’s time to stain grandmas deck anyway, so that’s my next project.
We went over to grandmas for nachos at five, well, mom and I did. She let Ben stay home and wait for Joey. We came home in time for the football game. It was nice to be home and watch it, just ourselves. I did get pretty sleepy after halftime, so I didn’t see all of it. I feel sad for kuithi for his injury, not just for the team, but because he delayed going into the nfl draft to stay. In other sports, BYU ended up beating Wyoming, but not spectacularly; Utah state lost to unlv, Florida lost again dang it; the PAC12 has four teams in the top 15 (usc, Utah, Oregon and Washington), so not bad.
Friday was fairly busy, we were supposed to go to dinner with grandma and rod and them, but grandpa got a bloody nose and went to the ER. so mom went to get Panda Express. Ben and I went to the movies. They were playing a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. It was awesome, so classic.
The rest of the week was pretty mundane, not a lot to repot. I do have two meetings tomorrow afternoon, so I may be in an out of our call.
I hope you’re doing well, I sure love you.
Pops
