Pizza night at bishops
Oh hi Bake,
It’s kinda late so this will probably be short.
I’ve been really busy at work, one of my employees quit so I’ve been scrambling to get the job open and get it filled. I met with one of my old Neways designers today for lunch, one tomorrow, and my buddy Vince on Friday. I could sure use someone good.
Yesterday our neighbors the Nobels called me to ask for some computer help. I told them we could chat after dinner. So I told mom and she told Ben then holy crap I was in trouble for suggesting our dear neighbors come over for some help. I followed up with Dave and he said he was good so potential discomfort avoided.
Tonight bishop had a pizza party for the priests and older girls at his house. I took our new pizza oven over. Joe worked but I did convince him to come after to eat and say hi. Which he did. Bishop set up an outdoor projector for movies, which was fun, but the kids choose High School Musical to watch, so I can’t even blame Joey for not staying. I had to stay till the pizza oven cooled enough to put away. But I do love the bishop and am getting to know his wife, who is super nice. You should ask out their daughter when you get home, she’s really cute. (I can just imagine the side glances I’d be getting from Ben for suggesting that). Mom even came to help.
Tomorrow night I need to go pick up aunt Stella’s old but good dishwasher and take it to, I’ll give you one guess…that’s right, mom’s sibling with the 10,000 food allergy afflicted children. I know, I know.
In sports news, Danny ainge is in the news because he said that it was obvious that the team didn’t believe in each other by the way the season and the playoffs went, so that’s why he broke the thing up.I thought that was pretty cool and honest. But some people found it offensive, some people will always find something offensive. I one my first game in both my fantasy leagues. Admittedly I’m making Ben manage my work league. BYU fans, well, the Deseret news, is convinced that after 8 straight punts and barely squeaking past Baylor they are destined for the CFP.
Ben’s started talking about graduate school, he seems excited about it and I’d already looking into it. He said he did homework for seven hours yesterday, plus class, work, and trax. I’m proud of him, he’s really working hard.
I was thinking about what yo told me on Monday about your nostalgia. I liked the way you put it as not homesickness but more memories of your home life. Generally, people associate nostalgia with fond memories. Remember when we were talking about gratitude and how to feel God’s blessings? I think when you feel nostalgia you are recognizing the goodness of your past life. That’s why you think old people are nostalgic and it’s true. I believe for a large part your memories recall emotions as much as they do events. I think as you look back at happy memories you can demonstrate your gratitude to God by thanking him for that past happiness. When you return from your mission, you’ll even have nostalgia and gratitude for that.
Anyway Bakey, I sure love you, I’m surely proud of you. Good night.
Love,
Pops
