Super Bowl Sunday

 Oh hi Bakey,

The Super Bowl just ended, 38-35 Chiefs. Mahoms was hurt but still had a great game. Covey had a couple of nice run backs, but not for points. Mom made probably the best chicken fajitas I’ve ever had, holy cow. It was mostly mom’s family and the Bergs, not as big as most years. The little Heumann’s came, ate, spilled and left. Grandpa didn’t come, and Mark wasn’t here to welcome everyone to his fine event like last Sunday at grandmas. The game was pretty good. I’m kinda ready for sports to be over though. I’ll get fired up again for the spring game. The commercials were either trying too hard or not hard enough is my summary. The halftime show was weird. The singer kept touching her privates, including her butt crack. There were a bunch of dancers in oversized white parkas and snow pants, I really don’t get things anymore. I really don’t want to get it.

Work was slow this week, but I think that will be temporary. My boss is setting up our department to be much more central. She seems to be showing a lot of trust in us, and of me. It will be a good challenge. I hope my team can step up. I saw my old boss at IFA yesterday when we were picking up Joe for lunch. I was surprised by how much I didn’t miss him. (Or want to talk to him).

It’s starting to feel a teeny bit like spring outside. I’m getting ready to get outside. We’re going on a Saturday adventure next week. Uncle Tim is coming with. We’ll leave by 6 am. I’m pretty excited.

I stopped working a little early on Friday and mom and I went to an old person early dinner. We went out to this Korean fusion restaurant at the district. I wasn’t expecting much because the place was empty and not super nice. But I gotta say Jacob, it was so good. Mom got this candied chicken salad and I got a cheese steak sandwich. They were both delicious. We look forward to taking you there. We watched the new black panther movie when we got home. It was okay, but they tried so hard to force the audience to be sad for that guy that died. I’m sorta over marvel movies, but there was a preview of the new guardians of the galaxy that’s coming up. I like that series.

Saturday we got up early to pick up grandma and get donuts at dunford bakery. On the way she bought us breakfast pizza at the corner bakery. We always think of you when we get that. We did our shopping together at Sam’s club but we rushed through because Ben, well, rushes us through.

Grandma had asked me to look at he car because she was getting a check engine light on. It was a thermostat which on her car is pretty easy to fix. So Ben took grandma home in mom’s car, mom went to some relief society talk, I went to go get parts and supplies for grandma’s car and Joey went to work. I had brought grandma’s car home Friday night after our date. I wanted to fix it at our house so I had all of my tools,, I didn’t want to be running back and forth in case I needed something else. All I really had to do is take a hose off and remove three screws to get to the thermostat. coolant leaked all over but I expected that. I got it all back together in less than an hour, and that was at George speed, which is about two and a half times slower than my estimated time to do a project. Because it went so fast I decided to give grandmas car a little cleaning. I let the car run while I was vacuuming and wiping down her dash and stuff to make sure there were no leaks. I noticed that after a while the heat never came on. Sometimes when you work on the cooling system of a car air will get in the system and block passages. I had refilled the radiator but I wanted to check. So stupidly I opened the radiator cap to check the level. I didn’t think the car was that warm but hot coolant sprayed everywhere. All over me, the car, my work bench and tools, ick. Luckily it wasn’t any hotter or I might have been burned. Well, I topped off the radiator again and let the car run. There was something caked all over her steering wheel so as I was scrubbing that off, still no heat. So I decided to drive to the car wash and as soon as i turned off our street heat started coming out of the vents. I had cleared her check engine light and it never came back on. So hopefully that repair will last. After I washed it I took her car back and got Ben.

I had another repair to do when we got home. Last week I had found a gallon of water in the back of the little car. I had researched it and it looked like the fix was easy. I removed the rear tail light assemblies, which water can get behind and found that some tape covering some random factory holes had dried out and curled up, leaving the holes open. Which is where I assume the water was coming from. I bought some seal tape and sealant to plug everything up and put the lights back on. I’ll take it through the car wash a couple of times this week to see if water is still getting in.

Mom and I went to the temple for initiatories that night. They changed the wording a little putting a lot of emphasis on the garment. I love the living nature of our temple ordinances.

Today was church. Then we came home to get ready for the Super Bowl. Mom and ben made fajitas. Let me tell you again Jacob, they were the best fajitas I have ever had. As always there was a ton of food.

There’s interesting things in the news lately. Last week a Chinese balloon was tracked over the United States at a high altitude. They say it was one 300 feet across with apparatus as big as three school buses hanging from it. They say it was guided and was likely a spy satellite. They had pictures and video of an F-22 shooting it down just of the eastern coast. Since then, three additional objects have been spotted and shot down. One over Alaska, one over the Yukon in Canada, and one over the Great Lakes. It’s funny that the are calling them objects and not balloons. One was described as cylindrical, one as spherical, and one as octagonal with strings hanging down from the corners. People are guessing that they are Chinese or Russian spy vehicles, but the military or government are only calling them objects of an unknown origin…spooky! I’ll keep you posted on that business.

There’s been sad news too. Our Neigbor sister Gates died from cancer on Wednesday. She would always talk to me about your letters and say nice things about you. Her funeral is on Friday. And there was a giant earthquake in turkey which has leveled complete towns and cities and killed tens of thousands of people. Life can be harsh Jacob. Be grateful for every day.

I forwarded those emails from your mission President to you. July 1st seems to be your official home date. I guess you travel plans will follow. Make the most of the time you have left, you’ll miss it when it’s over. That being said, have a fun last week with your comp. Make good choices but don’t be afraid to have a little fun. Fun does not equal evil.

It’s late,  the party put me behind, lyity kid.
