A Tiny Pink Sweater
Good evening Mr Joseph,
It’s nearly 11pm and I’m just settling into bed. I forgot it was Wednesday, since I was released from the Priests Quorum I lose track of my week nights. It was shockingly warm today, my car said 61° at lunch time, so I assume that a snowstorm is coming in. I’ll keep you posted.
Uncle Temmy seems to be regaining his strength. Aunt Stella reports that he is using his walker, getting himself around the house, and even going downstairs on his own (that last one scares me a little) without falling. I wake up every morning looking for a call or text seeing if there was a problem, but so far nothing bad since Sunday morning. It seems miraculous his recovery, and in actuality it probably is. After all, the doctors didn’t find anything wrong, not that they were looking very hard. I hope to have my aunt and uncle around for at least a little longer, I’m not ready to be the oldest (well second oldest after aunt Patti) in my family.
Mom may have told you that grandma finished her radiation treatments on Monday. It’s my understanding that her chemotherapy continues. She’s doing pretty well and looking forward to driving again soon, maybe even getting back to work. I hope for a miracle with grandma too. I’m planning on going over to put her fan in on Saturday.
The Utes basketball team plays BYU Saturday. Benjamin was only able to get two tickets so he and Jacob are going. BYU is ranked pretty highly and their fans are trying to fill the huntsman center. That seems to mean something to them. I guess maybe it does since they don’t have a bowl game this year. BYU is favored, but I think the Utes have a chance, except for the fact that Brandon Carlson may not play. He didn’t play Tuesday against SUU and, despite leading by as much 17, they only won by two.
Bryson Barns, Mikey Mathews, and an unknown freshman quarterback have all declared for the transfer portal. Barnes will be playing in the Vegas bowl, which is cool. The Utes had 10 players making the all PAC 12 team including Elliss, who was also named a second team all American.
At work they’ve done a small reorganization, which means that some people and departments were moved around. The good news is my staff may get a little bigger, more responsibility for me, the bad news is that I lost a couple of friends to layoffs. At my age, short of harm coming to you boys or mom, that is my biggest fear. The thought is terrifying to me. I’d sincerely rather see another ghost hovering over my bed.
Now that the work on the party decorations is done, I’m back to the projector cabinet project. I can’t remember if I told you that I ordered a fancy dowel jig from Canada, but I did and it came the week. Well, let-me-tell-you, that on my first try what a difference that thing has made. My joints are much more stable and even than with those other methods. I’m not sure when I’ll get it done my but my goal is to start putting the finish on this weekend.
Ben and Jacob are in their last week of the semester. Ben has finals next week. Boy is this year flying by. Speaking of which, one more week for you. In my old age, time is flying, how has it been for you these last four weeks?
I guess that’s it for tonight. I look forward to hearing from you tomorrow. We’re wondering if there will be a gap in your calls after tomorrow because of your entry into the mission field. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
I sure love you my boy. Make the best of this week and then brace yourself for the real thing next week.
Pops
P.S. Ben thinks there is HUGE difference between the taste of potato casserole made with grated rather than potatoes cut into medallions.
P.P.S. as a joke mom put pink sweater on Argeorqui thinking it would annoy him. But he thought it was a gesture of love and that she had knitted it from her own hair because she loves him so much. She’s not really engaging in that.
