Last day of school

 Oh hi kid,

You already got a letter from me this week, but I thought I’d write again just to keep you updated on the mundane that is my life.

I guess the big news is that this was moms last week of kindergarten. It’s kinda sad to see her pack all of her stuff up. I went over a couple of afternoons to help. She said several of her kids cried pretty hard. I never cried once on the last day of school.

Jacob seems to be settling into his job at Vivint, but Ben might have gotten him a job in his lab up at the U. I think that would be great.

I’ve been a little busier with freelance, I hope it keeps up. Not much progress on the job hunt though, it’s tough to not be discouraged. I’ll keep trying though, that’s what we do.

Friday night I went to the temple. When I got through the veil, mom was waiting in the celestial room for me, she looked like the most beautiful angel. I came home and watched the new captain America movie with your brothers. Let me tell you, it sucked! It’s like they’re not even trying anymore.

Yesterday was a pretty casual Saturday. Mom and I went to Sam’s Club in the morning, we saw grandma on our way out. Later, Jacob wanted to try a curry restaurant in Salt Lake, it’s literally called Curry In a Hurry. It was okay, mostly fun to be together. After we went to Winco, your brothers wanted ingredients for fancy cookies.

I sold my lathe on Facebook marketplace, a guy came by who restores percussion instruments for symphonies all over the world. He says he stays busy full time and never has to market his business. He’s going to use the lathe to polish long tubular brass orchestral chimes on it. I found myself a little jealous of his business. He was a younger guy, really cool.

Later in the afternoon mom had a picnic at our park pavilion with her classmates from her master’s class. Everyone was really nice, but I found her professor to be kinda douchy and condescending. Mom gets annoyed when I say that. We met Falstaff's parents (ask your brothers), who I thought were very nice. Mom made some delicious banana cream cupcakes, man were they good.

After that we went to a reception of one of my cousins daughters. It was in this old theater/playhouse in Salt Lake. It was built in the 30s to show silent movies. It had this big old organ there that was used to provide a soundtrack to those movies. It’s still there and still works. The couple were a little older and very well put together. They had a lot of food, fun music, old silent movies playing, it was actually a really cool reception. My cousin Ray sang and my cousin Sam played the guitar. I guess back in the 60s their dad, my uncle, used to sing there and was so impressed with the organ that he started building one in his house.  I love seeing my cousins, I feel so at home and comfortable with them.

Today was church day. It was good. Kennedy Christiansen gave her home coming talk. The people that went out with you are starting to come home. Tonight was our Treats In The Street. It was really fun. We live in an incredible neighborhood, I really love the people here.

When we got home we watched Clarkson’s Farm, now bed.

Another week gone by.

Love you kid, oh, tell me about transfer in the morning okay? Seems like it’s full on tornado season in Texas these days.
