The Traveling Rivera Boys
Oh hi that one elder kid!
Seems I always have stories to tell until I start writing, that’s when everything evaporates. Things around here are fairly normal. I guess the big news of the week was your brother’s travels. Jake was gone last week when I wrote. He seemed to have enjoyed himself, but I think was ready to come home. He had a long fight home on Wednesday with his flight from Denver repeatedly delayed. Luckily his buddies dad picked them up and brought them home, Jacob walked in the door about 2am. Mom stayed up for him, I didn’t because I had an interview Thursday morning (more on that later).
Also on Monday’s your cousin Camille brings her little kids over to hang out with mom. Mom has been doing little lessons and stuff with them. Evan asked if I could play, he likes my RCs. It’s fun to play with him. It piqued my interest in my RCs again. I want to play with our fast ones, which are far too much for those little kids. I’ve gathered up all my batteries and chargers to start getting ready. Let’s clean yours up when you get home and go find a place to play with them.
Tuesday morning my alarm was again set for 2:50 in the morning. This time it was to drop Ben at the airport for his trip to New Haven to get his apartment keys. Seems like he had a productive trip. He got a few things for his apartment and did a little walking around. I picked him up Thursday night about 11. His leaving is getting real. Every time I go shopping with your mom she’s buying him little things for his apartment or looking for deals on stuff he needs. Mom and I took grandma to lunch for her birthday at the Italian Village restaurant in Murray. It’s this older restaurant that old people like. The food is traditional and homemade. It probably not authentic, but it’s good and grandma likes it. I really love her and she’s looking forward to seeing you.
Wednesday I picked up another freelance project, a bigger one this time. Sometimes it’s hard for me to start a project like this, it’s like I don’t know enough about the new company. But I know the person who gave it to me and she been informative and helpful. I got an email from the big boss there saying he wants me to meet more of the team, so more work hopefully. Also on Wednesday we bought tickets to go see Paul McCartney in Vegas. Our seats are pretty high up, but at least we got them. Ben’s been working on getting your tickets in New York, I’m not sure when, but I know he’s excited about it. It seems like we’re spending a lot of money for our situation, and we are. But somehow we are okay, Heavenly Father is taking care of us, as he always does. I just want to be sure I am doing everything I should.
Thursday was my interview, it was with a company called Dental Intelligence. I think I told you about it that my experience at Henry Schein One would help, and I think I was able to answer the questions pretty well and very confidently. I hope I get another interview, my main worry is the same as it has been this whole time—my age. They said they’d get back to me this week, I’ll keep you posted.
Friday your brothers and I went to go fix grandma’s sprinklers and weed her garden. I took all my sprinkler fixing tools because I expected it to be a complex job. Grandma had told me that uncle Tim had tried to fix them but made them worse. Three sprinklers just needed minor adjustments and I got them aimed correctly. I think your uncle is a genius because nothing is ever really expected of him. But I should probably remember that serving your grandma is a true blessing. I always feel happy after. The truth is she always takes care of us, after the boys finished weeding she took us to Crown Burger, uncle Tim met us there and it was fun to chat with him. Seems like any time we do anything it feels like the last time we’re going to do it with Ben before he’s far away.
Saturday was a work day. I made pretty good progress on the bathroom. I hung most of the wallpaper, installed the new toilet, and got the trim back in on the rest of the floor and window. What’s left is finishing the wallpaper, paint the east wall, paint and caulk the new trim, do touch ups around the tile, buy and hang all the bathroom hardware (towel bars and hooks and the toilet paper holder, and hang the shower curtain rod, mom wants it higher than before). Mom also wants me to hang Some shelves for towels, but I think I’m going to consider that a separate project. That’s about the gist of yesterday.
Today, a normal church day, it much else. Mom made tostadas, super yum as always.
Well kid, please just know how much I love you and think of you. Please take care of yourself.
Lyity,
Pops
