Kickball

Hello elder,

Well, the Jazz are out. At least they made it a 5 game series. They lost game 1 and 2 in Huston by a combined 52 points. They lost game 3 by a missed Donavan Mitchell 3 at the buzzer. They held harden to like 9 points in game 4 for a pretty good win. Tonight they kept with them until about the last minute, when they lost it by a bunch of turnovers and missed shots.

I have to say, I liked this team this year, but as suspected, the lack of any trades caught up with them. I think for the most part, Mitchell, gobert, favors and O’Neil were better this year. Ingles, crowder and corver slid a little, Rubio, even though I liked him, really kinda sucked, even though he had a great game 4. He turns the ball over too much and just can’t score. There some talk about picking up Deleon Wright, but I think they should aim higher.

On to the subject of finding work, I had another set-back. The company Rip mason was going to buy...well, that didn’t happen. Sooo, I’m back to square one. I wish I didn’t get so discouraged, but you know how I am.

Today when I was praying, I heard the Lord tell me that those jobs weren’t for me. It was a great comfort. I admitted to Him that it’s hard for me to be patient. I try to keep the faith.

You know about the call from President McMullen. I got some background from Bishop Powers in Bishopric meeting last night. I guess President mcmullen was going over candidates for the new Bishop in our ward. That’s how he found out. Not sure if unemployment will keep me from the calling or not. Employed or not I can’t say I’m in anyway ready for that. All I can say is that I do want to serve and obey. I’ve had so many great bishops in my life that have influenced me greatly. I don’t think I can compare to those men. If I ever do get the call, I’d like to try.

The word is getting into the ward that I’m out of work. It’s so kind of the ward members to think of me. So many say that they keep us in their prayers.

So your brothers want to go see the avengers. I wanted to go Saturday morning. All the showings were already so full I couldn’t get 4 seats together. So I found a theater in Lehi that’s showing them all night Friday. It’s a long movie and Jake has to be to school by 8:30. So I got tix to the 4:30 am showing. I’ll be asleep before the opening credits are over.

Tonight at mutual was a combined activity. They were going to do ultimate frisbee. But, it rained pretty hard. So we had all the kids in the gym. Someone brought dodge balls. We did that activity recently and it turned into a Lord of the Flies situation. So since Bishop was gone, I asked Parker, Carson, and Jacob fielding to organize a game of kickball in the gym. I know, pretty lame. It did meet the objectives I had in my head however: everyone participated, everyone got a turn, there was a sense of order to it, and the young women leaders didn’t end up screaming at the deacons. So fun or not, it was a win. Ice cream was provided, so it wasn’t all bad.

Well, enough for tonight. I sure love you my boy. I think of you constantly.
