Ophir ghost town

Oh hi dear kid!

So, how are you? Getting transferred? I figured since we didn’t get a call yesterday you we’re staying for at least another transfer, for which I’m happy for you. I don’t think your brothers could take another tease of you coming home and then staying. I don’t imagine you’d like it much either.

We’ve had another week of gardening at our house, a relevant portion of Mr. Trump’s Covid 19 stimulus money has gone into the ground at our house, literally. Every night this week and most of the day Saturday your mom and I have been working on the yard. We’ve cleared most of the weeds from the garden, even that disgusting area in the back corner of the backyard. We’ve planted three tiny fruit trees, a yellow peach, a white peach, and a cherry back there along the fence on the north side. On the east side of the house mom chose a columnar oak. She’s quite fond of it, though she hasn’t named it yet. I did pull out that other dead tree near the tomato garden, but I left the mostly dead tree near the basketball hoop, for now anyway.

Yesterday, other than gardening, we were able to help some members of our ward move. They were so ready we weren’t even there for 45 minutes. I honestly enjoy that kind of service.

After we went to lunch with grandma and grandpa...I know...I know. But we went through the drive through at Astro burger, got our food, and ate on the tailgates. And stayed reasonably far apart. Uncle Tim’s family, the not married ones, came too. Your brothers call Jordan one of the boys, he says he’s a stand in. Then I said he was a scab, you know, like a stand in.

While we were at lunch aunt Lithia asked me to guide them to the ghost town Ophir. I took you guys there a while back. We went this afternoon and it was a nice diversion for everyone. It’s getting harder and harder to stay in the house, as I’m sure you can relate. I’ll send you some pictures later, I haven’t processed them yet.

This weekend was a nice diversion from the work week. My company had layoffs and one of my staff was caught up in it. He had been with the company for 13 years. I’m still pretty raw from being on the other end of that, so I didn’t sleep much all week knowing that was coming up.

We’re watching a new ESPN series called The Last Dance, it’s a 10 part series on Michael Jordan. They’re playing 2 episodes on Sunday nights. It was pretty good. I miss the 90s nba, it’s so much more physical than this no offensive rebound, 3 point chucking, flopping, load management pansy game they play now.

Another series we’re watching is about the Skinwalker Ranch. It’s sadly kinda dumb. But still fun to watch with your brothers.

Wow, I thought I had soo much to tell you this week. But I didn’t even make a full page.

Love you kid, as always, Monday is my favorite day because we get to hear from you.

P.S. Ohh, for church today, I based my talk on elder Neil l. Andersen’s conference talk Spiritually defining memories. What a great talk.
