Dad's Note: I'm posting this unedited version here for posterity sake. Not that I think Ben put anything inappropriate here, But as I publish his letters more widely and nobody looks at these, I thought it would be appropriate here

Quote of the week explanation

I don't even know

Well folks, I didn't write an email last week.

Sue me.

I was too annoyed with one of my two companions to write. I will leave it at this: righteousness is a virus, and I'd rather catch COVID-19 than be accused of having the righteousness bug. Who gets mad at someone else for texting another missionary with an incomplete clause??? When he first came into the area, he said that his goal was to be 100% obedient, and in my mind,  I thought oh-ho-ho, we're gonna change that. Not because I'm a blatantly disobedient missionary, but because there genuinely is such thing as breaking the rules for the greater good. I hate to break it to you folks, but we're not living the law of Moses anymore. Unfortunately, there are Pharisees among us. And you know what the Bible says about them... "The publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you..." Pretty strong words from the Prince of Peace.

But moving on to lighter topics...

Transfers is this upcoming week. I will be staying in San Francisco, but transitioning over to be back in the Chinese branch. We're back in business folks. Don't get me wrong, I'll genuinely miss the Golden Gate and Bay wards. It's a pretty OP area, to be sure; but nothing like jumping back into Asian central. I'll be staying in a trio with some other Elders, neither of which have been my companion before, so it should be pretty good. They were both called to this mission, so they know how things go. We'll get cracking right away.

We taught some lessons this week, had some member visits, attended some meetings (all virtual, of course; wouldn’t want you to think I was committing treason by looking at another person not through a device screen...), so it was a rather standard week.

We did have an in-person lesson, actually, so that was pretty fun. We had to sit 6 feet apart, outside of his apartment, wearing masks, but still. He's a pretty cool guy; he gave us some fruit.

So that's about it. The only thing I have left to say is this: xanthan gum.

Bye.

P.S. Is Mitt Romney even active?

P.P.S. I found out that his first name is actually Willard, so that was interesting.

P.P.P.S. Möbius strip (wray)
