Iron giant

 Oh hi Jake,

I figured I’d write early since I’m sitting in the waiting room getting my 4Runner serviced. It just after 7. It’s getting cooler in the mornings, not cold, but I haven’t acclimated yet so I have a polo, a zip up pull over, and one of my thick hoodies on. I have very little vanity that can overcome my desire to feel warm.

As I look around the waiting room, I see that all Toyota owners are middle aged, and a bit boring. If it wasn’t for me, the 4Runner owners skew younger. 

I read Jordan’s letter about his ingrown toenail and laughed pretty hard. I love both of your letters when you talk about the people you teach and visit. I think you both come out of yourselves when you talk about the people that you are serving.

Mom and Joey are home on fall break. Joey mopes when bens at school, he won’t admit it, but I know he misses you a lot. 

Yesterday Ashley and her little boy came by to bake with mom. I really admire your mom for what a true friend she is to Ashley. Ashley continues to go from challenge to trial. She has friends, who are members, who seem would rather test her intentions that support her in getting baptized. Members everywhere can be pretty stupid. But then there are people like mom that seem to redeem the rest of us.

I had that interview on Monday, so m supposed to send the more portfolio examples. I have to admit, I have a pretty dull sense about that job, and when I pray about it, i get no sense whatsoever. I may send in my samples, or I may ghost. I just felt like it was the same job as I have now, but I’d have to start over. I’ll keep you posted.

In sports, the Utes are ranked 25th, SDSU 23, and byu 21. I guess if the Utes did get beat twice, it was by ranked teams. Hopefully the Utes will continue to climb and byu continue to fall. On the other hand, Oregon State is favored by 2.5 on Saturday. The buzz on byu is that they’ve lost their “physicality.” That’s the desert news way of saying they’re soft. 

Oh, and Washington state fired their coach and four assistants this week for not getting vaccinated. Can you imagine walking away from a $2.5 million a year to follow Fox News pundits? Sheesh. We’re seeing Darwinism in action.

On the geek dad hobby front, I’m still playing with that 3D printer. So far, I’ve printed 3 Benchy test boats and a multi piece pain holder. I just downloaded an Iron Giant model. It was sort of kicking my behind in the slicing software, but I think I got it sorted last night. The first print, the torso, I’d a 23 hour print. I’ll start it after my meetings this morning. It will be the longest one by double. I put a web camera on it and a smart plug to be able to stop it remotely if needed. I’ll send pics if it turns out.

We’ll kid, the well of what I have to update you on has already dried up. I think of you always and pray for you often. Keep striving.
