“So, you have a jeep, huh?”

 Oh hi sir Jacob,

Okay, okay, so we have gone to nearly every game…but it gets worse…I’ve been loving them. Holy crap, despite the set-backs this season, this team is really exciting. Cam Rising is the kind of quarterback I’ve been hoping for. He’s kind of a combination of Tyler Huntley and Brian Johnson. He’s clutch. What I like most about him is that he looks like he’s having fun. The short punts were the most unexpected, and they were better than our current punt team, that’s according to coach whittingham. The safety was also very exciting.

Brother oldryd texted me on Thursday asking if we wanted to go, I wasn’t even sure who was texting me. But you’re daddy’s not a complete idiot, I said yes right away. Turned out that Artie had an extra one so moms got to come too. Luckily, we were only a section apart, but our seats were on the second row, just to the left of the goal posts. We were lucky enough that a lot of the action was on our side, including several touchdowns and the safety. The players were close enough that you could see there faces. Also, they retired number 22 for Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe. The Utes have never retired a number before. They played two really great videos between quarters. It really added to the passion of being a Ute fan. It also sets a really high bar for maybe not wanting your number retired.

It was a pretty busy weekend and I’ve come down with a bit of a cold, but it was probably worth it. Especially since it got me out of second hour at church and a family baby blessing in Lindon. It even would have gotten me out of sacrament meeting, but I wanted to hear mom’s talk. As expected, she did a great job, and she has that quality that people just engage with her. I did get a decent nap in after church.

Friday night we went to my cousin Estrella’s house for a Halloween costume party. I mostly wanted to go to hang out with my cousins for the first time since before COVID-19. We did dress up. Mom had on her Raggedy Ann doll costume from school. I dressed as my cousin Estrella by wearing a wig, one of mom’s sweaters, and a megaphone. Nobody knew what my costume was until I yelled “CACA HEAD” through the megaphone and everyone instantly knew who I was. They had a really fun setup outside including a fake graveyard and tons of large scale decorations. We had ghost stories by the fire, it was really fun.

Okay, time for an uncle Tim story. Saturday morning I went on one of those Saturday Jeep trips I like to go on. I invited uncle Aaron and uncle Tim. We were going to meet uncle Aaron at the gathering point so uncle tim met me here. I’m never sure how long those will last, so we stopped at Maverick for provisions. They have a pretty good breakfast grill there then I bought some other crap. Anyway, for the uncle tim story. I’m browsing the candy section whe I hear a loud but familiar voice from the checkout area “so, you’re working at Maverick huh?” You know man, there are so many people not wanting to work and so many unfilled jobs, anyone willing to do a job like this is a hero to me. YOU are a HERO my man!” Keep in mind, I’m stand 20 feet away and I hear uncle Tim’s side of the conversation clearly. Then, as I pretend that I’m in there by myself, your uncle comes over, and in the same loud voice tells me, “you know, anyone willing to work a crappy job right now is a hero, we need these jobs filled.” Ohhhh man.

We all met up at the Merkur cemetery. Uncle Aaron and max got there just after we did. I’m airing down my tires and I hear uncle Tim striking up a conversation. “So, a Jeep huh?”

To be totally honest though, in a lot of ways I’d like to be a little more like your uncle tim. He’s always positive, always friendly and out going, and tries to look for the best in everyone. These adventures are all new to him and he’s super enthusiastic about them. The trip went up a draw south of Ophir (remember we went there with uncle Tim’s family during the first year of Covid-19) over a saddle near a front peak and back down behind Ophir. There were a few challenges and my 4Runner got a few more scratches from branches and stuff. But it proved itself very capable and my confidence really grew in it. It was a gorgeous fall day for both that adventure and the game.

That’s all I have for this email Jamey. I miss you all the time. I’m not sure if would have come with me on that adventure, but you were missed at the game. Joe wore mom’s Halloween wig and we made the Jumbotron several times because of it. You would have had fun.

Love you kid. I know tomorrow is a different one for you so I hope you have fun, send some cool pictures if you can.
