Fruit, from other countries?

 Oh hi Jacob,

So I delayed writing to you until we went to grandmas so I could get some uncle Tim isms. He didn’t disappoint. When we got there he was stirring the Alfredo like he was chef gusto from ratatouille. Then Abby showed up and he was making up all of these ridiculous fake names for her, that gag lasted about 7 minutes too long. Then at dinner, mom and everyone was talking about Harry Potter and I said how much I hate Harry Potter, I may as well said I hate baby Jesus, I thought half the table was going to cry. Later, we were talking about Jordan’s last letter about eating watermelon like cereal and how funny I thought that was and how Jordan was my favorite. That set uncle Tim on a rant about how amazing it was that so much of our fruit in this country actually comes from other countries. I said “yea, they’re even starting to bring it over on trains now.’ Like it was the 1880s or something. Nobody at the table thought I was kidding, Mark was even pretty amazed on the new fangled ‘railroad” technology. Finally, grandma made a giant deal of your uncle taking out the trash. He really is a hero.

Oi was thinking of you and your talk all day. I hope it went well for you, I was praying for that. I look forward to hearing about the rest of your week tomorrow.

Speaking of prayers. Mom went to dinner with her friends last night, I guess Ashley is no closer to baptism with her bishop or the missionaries. I’m not sure why she can’t make headway on this. So we decided to fast for her today, you’re mom and I that is. Sometimes, I should say usually, I feel more than I did today when I fasted. I hope there’s still more we can do to help her.

It finally snowed this week, we only got a couple of inches but it was pretty. I was worried about Joe driving in it but he was fine. Your mother, on the other hand, spun out at that roundabout by her school and hit the curb with her wheel. I went to check it but there seemed to be no damage other than some red paint on her wheel and some curb rash. It was about 100 yards from where we hit the curb in the pig when you were first driving. She said one of the teachers at her school also crashed at school, then fell out of her car. The cars wheel fell off and the lady had to go in the ambulance. Mom got annoyed when a referred to that woman as a a spazz, but really, how else can you explain it.

Along with the snow comes Neigbor gift drop offs. It’s still funny to see your brothers scramble and hide when the doorbell rings. Some things never change jacob. Mom got small bottles of Tide detergent for everyone and made a cute card for them. Practical as ever.

I gave my first lesson in priest’s quorum today. When those boys were teachers the were nuts. Today the were very attentive and polite, they even participated.  Mostly told my stories, some that you’ve heard many times. It was about how to make decisions, which I think is really important for kids that age. Soon they’ll be making decisions that will affect their whole lives. You’re in the midst of that now. Bishop Snarr gave me a really nice blessing afterwards as he set me apart for the calling. Maybe it will be okay. It was nice to be in there with Joey.

I really missed having a football game to watch this weekend. We watched the championship game again to compensate. The Utes looked so good, but to be honest, Oregon had a few breakdowns that made me think maybe they were a team on decline. They hired a new coach, some young guy who was a coordinator at Oklahoma. Oregon has had a lot of decommits and transfer portal entrants, so they may have some rebuilding to do. Turns out that coach sitake was a finalist for the job. Looks like BYU came through for him though and set him up with a fair salary bump and contract extension. As much as I hate BYU, I felt bad for them if they had to go into the big 10 with a green coach.

Joe’s back on the job search. He applied at Home Depot and we may have him convinced to apply at a new Wendy’s they’re building across from maverick down by bangerter. He’s pretty wary about fast-food since the Panda Express debacle, and I’m not sure I blame him. That said, he does need a job. He’s been very board and grumpy since this all happened.

I talked to aunt Stella tonight. She got invited to a wedding in New York City next June but she’s kind of nervous to go alone. So I offered to take her. We’ll see if it happens.

Well, my blinks are starting to get really long so I better finish up. I love you kid, you really are always on my mind.
