Lost in the mountains with Bishop Snarr

Oh hi Bakey!

It seems like a while since we chatted last. You’ve been busy, zone conference, piano playing, a baptism hopefully. I assume it all went well. Wondering if your President is trunky, did you meet your new President.

It was a pretty standard week so far around here. Mom had that interview but she’s feeling bad because she didn’t hear anything…after one whole day. Ben’s liking his job. Joe is feeling like maybe he’s working a bit too much but he assumes it will be better once school’s out and his schedule changes. My job is fine, if a we bit dull.

Wednesday night we went over to grandmas to put in her flowers and bark. It looks pretty decent, mom chooses good flowers. Grandma bought us KFC, and Joey and I weaseled out young mens that night.

Ben just used the word processes in a sentence with Joe. Just so you know. Pro-chess-eeez.

I’m getting excited for that trip to eastern Oregon. I’ve been finding a bunch of YouTube videos about the area and it looks interesting. I’m not sure if your brothers are going with me or not. I invited uncle Tim. I look forward to the large fireballs and everything smelling like lighter fluid. I’m getting my stuff together for the 4Runner and the gear. I’ve been wanting a really cool, really expensive overlanding style roof rack. If that freelance project ever comes through I still might, instead I got an el Cheepo HarborFreight rack, which will do the job nicely for this trip. I want to carry a gas can, my bathroom/trash duffel, some firewood and maybe my tent. I did get a power station to plug my camp fridge in at night and it came with a coupon for a solar panel. I’m becoming a real gear guy I guess. We’ve decided to mostly do freeze dried backpacking meals so it may be a pretty gassy trip, if you know what I mean.

Mom’s watching a hallmark movie right now. It’s an old one. But new or old, the dudes in these shows always wear brown coats with darker brown collars on them.

Bishop is planning a summer activity for the priests so he wanted to go check out a church camp up in Cache valley. The name closest town is Paradise. I felt that was appropriate because it was really really beautiful up there. Everything was green and lush. There were yellow wild flowers everywhere and everything was so clean. Near the camp is a small reservoir. I was shocked by how full it was, to capacity. The road to the camp was a dirt road that hugged the slopes over the water. The camp, called Cinnamon Creek was just past the reservoir. It was an extremely nice camp, with a bunch of different activities and stuff. It should be a nice camp. After, we wanted to see if there was a shortcut over the mountains to head home. Bishop was game, so off we went. It continued to be pretty as we headed up a narrow alpine canyon. We passed a couple of open gates on the way up which as you know never seem to stop me. The trees started to clear as we approached the pass. The view opened to this lush, high mountain valley meadow. If I was a billionaire I would have bought it on the spot. The road took kind of a blind left turn. I stopped with plenty of room but we weren’t going any further so we ended up backtracking the way we came. We stopped for lunch in Paradise and had some pretty decent burgers. Bishop was really fun to talk to, he really cares about the ward and the young people in it.

After we got home I met Ben and Joey at rancharitos. They had met there for Joe’s break. Afterwards, I assembled the rack, I need to figure out how to mount my gas can bracket to it. I also need to remove the stickers the affix it to my factory cross bars. I really love that 4Runner. It’s in every way better than my Jeep.

Did you know pornography is just like a cheeseburger? I learned that in church today.

Well, I sure love you kid, I’ll look forward to hearing from you tomorrow.
