So, what kind of mileage does that thing get?
Oh hi Mr. Rabies,
Actually, I figure you’re fine or we would have gotten a call by now. And speaking of calls, I assume you’ve gotten transfer news by now and I would guess that you’re staying put with your comp, but who knows. Also, if I remember correctly, tonight you’re at the temple, which would be awesome.
We just got home from grandmas. She was assigned to make a full on Sunday dinner because your cousin Erinn brought a boy home to meet the family, and you know what that means. He’s actually a pretty nice fella. He’s another brown guy, I seem to have started a trend on your mom’s side of the family. So far all of the granddaughters have married brown guys, and they are all pretty decent. The quote in the title is of course from uncle Tim asking his son in law Nick at a really random point in the conversation that question. Nick politely answered, then to mom’s displeasure i said, “Wow, that’s the most father in law question I’ve heard tonight.” Then all your cousins laughed. I felt a bit sorry for my smart mouth, but uncle Tim was a good sport. I was then told by your girl cousins that I was the cool uncle, to which I replied that the bar was pretty low, which got another laugh at your poor uncles expense. Your new soon to be cousin seems nice and outgoing.
Today at church in Sunday school we were learning about the Israelites. We got on a subject of them having to accept the lower law. Then some woman went on a rant on how it was okay to leave the church because we had all of eternity to make up for it. I was just glad I wasn’t the teacher because I may have shut her down in a contentious way. That went along with testimony meeting where some lady got up and said she was glad that she listened to the spirit that told her not to put her old dog down despite what the vet said. And how she knew that for the last three months of the dogs life she knew it was happy every time she drained her abdominal abscess. Oh man Jacob, I’m not sure what’s becoming of our ward. I can see us getting stupider by the week.
On the positive side, I was talking to bishop this morning. One of the young men in the quorum who had no intention of serving a mission changed his mind and is now anxious to go. I could see the emotion on bishops face when he told me that. Then, bishop Marchant, the legend, got up and quoted President Neilson’s talk about missionary service. He bore his testimony of his mission in Mexico. Then he gave a great quote, “I won’t say that my mission was the best two years of my life, but I will say that it was the best two years for my life.” I wish I could have expressed it like that to you boys, but that’s really the way I feel.
Yesterday was a basic Saturday. I did yard work mostly. Ben and Joey worked. We did manage to go to chick fillet together. Last night, uncle Steve and aunt Susan were in town, so grandma had to spend $140 bucks in pizza for them. Uncle Steve was called ben a hippie, and I replied in a way I probably shouldn’t have, but it was okay. I’m pretty protective of you guys, especially against idiots.
You’ve probably already heard about Devin Lloyd going 28th in the first round to Jacksonville. Not the best, but at least it was in the first round. Several other Utes signed free agent deals, including Britain Covey with the eagles. I hope he gets at least one return this year, and I hope I get to see it.
The annoying Deseret news headline of the week: “Are both byu and Utah sleeper candidates for the football college playoffs?” Soooo delusional.
On a sad note, my cousin Sam’s son Daniel passed away yesterday. He was in his mid 30s, had type one diabetes, and didn’t take super good care of himself. He was a sweet kid, but maybe because of his condition, didn’t take life too seriously. I feel bad for him not experiencing the best things in life, it’s always sad when young people die. His funeral is Saturday.
Your cousin.max Heumann could be getting his mission call Tuesday, we’ll keep you updated.
Ben will probably be annoyed that I told you this, but he picked up another scholarship. I’m super proud of him. He’s also applied for a research assistant job up at the U. He really wants it so that’s one of the things I fasted for today.
Sure love you Jacob, talk soon, pops
