Hump week

Oh hi Benjamin!

Sooo...it’s hump week huh? That’s all I have to say about that, except for...congratulations!

Last Thursday I had my 1 on 1 with my boss. I presented him with my 30/60/90 day goals, along with my progress so far on those goals. He was, as the kids say, impressed. His direct quote was, “Wow, you’re on fire!” Enough of the dad brag section.

Friday’s highlight was that runnin Utes game. To recap, the records broken and highlights were, the most points scored in a half by the Utes; the largest margin of victory in D1 history, two double doubles in one game, and 9 players scoring double digits. My hope for this season is a victory over BYU, but after that and the win over Nevada...could the be a good basketball team?

Yesterday in the morning we met the Elwood’s to do some cement work at Sister Gates house. Your brothers, myself, brother Elwood and Parker’s Uncle Patrick moved dirt and mixed concrete. Patrick has experience doing small concrete jobs so it need up not looking like a bunch of monkeys did it. I’m proud of it, even though I was basically just a shovel jockey.

Last night there was an Elders quorum bbq competition. We planned it as an anti relief society style party with no decorations, string trios, harpists, center piece decorations, or even table cloths. Instead, we had meat to eat and for decoration. Several folks brought meat to share, mom and sister Elwood brought the side dishes. The Bishopric and the ward widows were asked to judge the meat. Drum roll...mom’s brisket won, unanimously. If there had been a contest for side dishes, her creamed corn would have won that too. It was really fun being with the ward members. I really love this ward.

Today was a good happy Sunday, we’re enjoying the last few weeks of the noon schedule. I had ministering interviews after church, I enjoy meeting with the brothers in our ward. We went to grandmas after and had her famous Alfredo and Parmesan chicken. I feel bad because I let everyone get on my nerves, I’m usually , at least recently, not as grumpy at grandmas house.

Tonight we had tithing settlement. You were officially declared a full tith payer by nature of your full time service. My mood was a stark contrast to how i had felt earlier. I really felt the Spirit as Bishop Marchant asked us to share our feelings about tithing. This recent trial of unemployment really bolstered my testimony of that. Okay, sorry, I feel myself slipping into righteous dad mode.

BYU best liberty by 7 yesterday, Who is Liberty you may ask? Yes, that’s the point. Your cousin Mark is not happy with his team. But on the bright side, the BYU men’s basketball team lost to San Diego State.

I’m getting up a little early tomorrow to go scout the building for a sunrise building shot, so I’m anxious for bed. But I love ya kid, I look forward to hearing from you tomorrow, and I hope your wish of one more transfer in your area is granted.
