Grandmas ice cream cake

Oh hi Ben!

You may or may not have noticed that I omitted to write to you on Wednesday. The truth is, now that I’m into my workweek routine, I just don’t have a ton to report. I’ll write on Wednesday’s in the future if something interesting happens, or if I have some of those righteous dad musings I tend to impose on you. Otherwise, i will refrain from sending the purely vapid messages of the last few Wednesdays.

This weeks sports report was dominated by the report of the Colorado game that I sent you. The Utes have ended up 9th in the pac12, below even their normal mediocrity. But the home games we got to go to, plus the win over Kentucky, made this a darn entertaining season none the less. Three OT wins, including one over BYU, will be remembered. In football news, spring ball is coming up. The QB transfer from north Carolina has gotten some preseason hype as a possible first round pick next year. I’m not completely over the pain of those lasts two losses, but hope for next season is beginning to spark...I do possess a foolish heart. Utah state beat #2 ranked San Diego state in their tournament championship. BYU fans are talking about a final four appearance...assuring them a definite blow out loss in the first round.

Work’s been busy but good. My long time colleague and friend Jason Robinson is starting a week from tomorrow. He was on my staff at Neways, he’s also very talented. I’m down to two finalists for the associate creative traffic coordinator position, and hope to get that filled soon. I’m finally beginning to get some traction on two big projects, a new corporate web site and some brand standardization in the form of ad templates. It getting fun.

No rc for joe an I this week. I have had to do a near rebuild of mine because I so grossly over powered the thing. Have I learned my lesson? Absolutely not, I’m just hoping a more robust reassembly will lead to some longevity. I have increased run time between failures by double, maybe I can double it again and get a full 20 minutes before I have to do another tear down. I’m currently at a readiness rate roughly of the SR-71, and nearly the cost-per-hour rate too.

This week I’ve been working on the route planning for our Death Valley trip. I’m learning a new software program to make the rout. It been fun. But the reality is that Death Valley is so huge, that my routes are probably double what can reasonably be done in our allotted timeframe. I’ve also worked up a t-shirt design for the trip, I’ll send you one if we end up having them made. Next week will be Jeep prep. I’ve needed to replace my radiator for over a year now. One is being delivered tomorrow, then the frustration begins.

Today we ate at grandmas. It was the classic Parmesan chicken, Alfredo, fettuccini and salad meal with her fat boy ice cream sandwich cake dessert. Oh my.

I find myself thinking of you often, wondering what the next season of your mission will bring you. I pray for you a lot. I must say that it feels normal for you to be there instead of here, mostly. Jordan came over to hang out with your brothers on Friday night. Now, I don’t in any way see Jordan as a proxy for you, but it did feel normal to have three boys in the house again.

Well, text a lot tomorrow, call if you can, and write another good letter, we sure enjoy them.

Lyity,

Pops

P.S. I introduced your brothers to one of my guilty pleasure movies from my youth, Tremors. They were not impressed.
