Back to normal

 Good Sunday son,

I must admit that in these last few days I’ve missed you more than at any other time since you’ve been gone. Other than the game though (outcome not withstanding), I’m sure none of it was too earth shattering to miss. The drive down was long, Disney was wet, but star wars land was so awesome, olvera street was fun but mostly just shopping and looking at crap you probably see everyday. I thought about going to the Peterson car museum but I thought you’d be the only one in the family besides me that would be into it. So we’ll go when you’re back. Hanging out by the Rose Bowl before the game was a lot more fun than I would have thought. There was just such a positive exciting feeling in the air. We did lots of the free activities and bought very overpriced food. But the weather was perfect and it was fun to be with everyone.

I kept you updated on the game, I hope they came through and I hope they didn’t distract or get you a lecture from your new comp. Those last few from mom’s email were from me too, my phone died at the very end. I think you would have loved the game, but I know it would have stressed you out badly. The most interesting thing to me was that our running back Micah Bernard had to play safety because everyone else was out for the year, and it showed. He got burned time-after-time by the best receiver and qb in the country. He cried after the game, but you could tell he gave it his all. But the Utes led the whole game till the very last. And offense looked so good. It was so exciting. It reminds me of the basketball team that went to the finals and lost. I would have preferred a win there too. But it was such a fun season and such a great team that even though we lost, like that basketball team, this team will probably go down as my favorite team ever. Whittingham said we have something like 72 of our 90 scholarships returning as freshman or sophomores, most who played or started this year, so that and our opener with Florida will give us a lot to look forward to.

Now it’s back to work and back to school. I kinda like this time of year to because everything normalizes and is a lot more calm. Sometimes the artificial buzz of the holidays is fun, and sometimes it just is too much for me.

We headed home after the game last night. I thought I could probably drive all night, but it was after 8 by the time we cleaned traffic. I told your mom that I thought we should stop so we stopped in Barstow which is only a couple of hours from Pasadena. We got McDonald’s and got a rom in this crappy travelodge hotel. I managed to get 5 or 6 hours of sleep in and we were off. We got gas and gas station breakfast burritos in Las Vegas. Remember how every place we stopped in Nevada stunk when we went to the pac12 championship.. the same goes for Vegas. Ben helped me drive for a couple of hours later in Utah because my eyes were getting heavy. We got home about 3:30. It’s nice to be home. Grandma brought us dinner about 5. She is so sweet. We watched the last Jedi tonight in honor of the rides we went on. I enjoyed it, we haven’t watched it for a while. We also watched the first episode of The Book of Bobba Fett on Disney+. Pretty good start so far. We missed church and fast Sunday, I refuse to be regretful for spending the Sunday with my family.

Well, you’ve heard from me a lot this week. I assume we’ll be getting back to our normal rhythm with football being done. If we watch or go to any basketball games, I’ll send simple scoring updates. I told all the jazz fanatics on my side of the family that a refuse to consider them a true sport until they make the conference finals. I may have mad a few of them cry.

Love-YA-I-tell-YA!
