And just like that, mom roasts the Stake President

 9.19.21

Oh hi Elder Bakey!

Just so you know, it was my iPad, but mom was the one making the comments on your live feed tonight. Well, mom and grandma. You looked really good. You got a little sly smile when that message came through that you’ve had since you were a little toddler and you and Ben were getting into something that you thought was so fun and that might get you in trouble with mom. I thought you looked confident, and your Spanish sounded really good, and I should know, I’m rocking Duolingo.

Your grandparents and Abby came over for dinner tonight. Ben made pork butt. It was really good, but not up to Diva Ben standards, so he was a little put out. Grandma seems most relaxed when she comes over here and isn’t taking care of everyone, I like it when we can take care of her. They’re already making thanksgiving plans. Rod is coming up, and mom blames me. Forgive me for being nice to he relatives. I honestly don’t care who comes, I just like thanksgiving.

Brother Snarr was called to be our new bishop. He was the ward clerk when I was in the bishopric. He’s a very humble guy. I really think he”ll be a great bishop. He’s definitely not someone who was gunning for the job. His wife is really great too. In his talk, he asked the ward to fast for unity and forgiveness. I had thought that whoever the new bishop was going to be, that might be a big worry. I think he’s already inspired. Brother Fielding had a great big smile on his face early in the meeting, so I knew he was off the hook.

President McMullin was in our ward for the change over. He stayed for Sunday school. He asked a question about what happened in Missouri during the civil war after what the Lord said what would happen after the saints were persecuted there in sections 105. Your mom turned around, pointed to her phone and said, “you know, you CAN look it up on google!” Way for roast the stake prez Heidi!

BYU beat Arizona state last night, they are now ranked 15th. The worst part is, they look really good. I don’t have a lot to add to the stuff I sent you on the Utes last night, but despite all of that, these games are pretty meaningless, but next week not. Let’s just hope they can beat the lowly Washington state team. Ben and joe are going to the game with Artie, mom’s doing stuff with her buddies, so I’m probably going to be on my own for the game.

Yesterday was one of those days where we were busy all day but felt like nothing happened. Joe and I were going to do RCs in the morning, but it rained, and I hate getting mud off of our trucks so I canceled. I did get your package off finally. The said that I could not track or insure it. So I’m a little dubious that it will make it intact. We sent your shoes, two of your hoodies, a pair of your jeans, and some candy. I looked for some hot wheels, but the pickings were bad at our local Walmart. Let me know what comes through, and when. We’ll get you what you need one way or another.

Moss had two touchdowns tonight, Zach Wilson had 4 interceptions. So something is still right in the universe.

On Thursday, uncle Tim and I went to the Hill AFB museum for a presentation from an F35 pilot. It was really cool. We got free food, and I got a close look into the f117 cockpit. It was strangely archaic relative to how high tech it was, for the time. It was fun to hangout with uncle Tim. We stopped by McDonald’s after, and it’s fun chatting with him. It made me grateful for you though. Apparently, Jordan hasn’t called once.

I love you kid, I feel so amazed to live in a time when we can see you live on video. Just seeing you face, seeing the effort you put in, and that you’re healthy, gives me so much peace. I’m sure things are still hard, I’m sure you still feel a little shaky. But just stay close to the Lord in your prayers, through following the Spirit, and by being obedient and you’ll continue to progress.

We’ll, nothing else comes to mind for this week, talk tomorrow.

Love-YA-I-tell-YA!
