Fishin ‘n nuggets

Hi kid,

I thought I’d spend what’s left of my evening writing a heartfelt letter...just kidding.

There is one thing though, that last p.s. of yours was a great reminder of how faith and prayer work. Whether or not it was meant for me, it was appreciated.

I had that second interview today. It’s in an out of the way building right in downtown salt Lake. I think I did well, but I had the distinct feeling that I probably talk too much like an executive and not enough like a creative. I don’t know if that makes sense, but in my career, I see things strategically more than decoratively, and sometimes that throws folks off. The person I interviewed with was professional and nice. We’ll see if anything else happens.

Tonight I went to a wedding reception with your mom, it was for one of her co teachers. You know how I feel about wedding receptions, but it was either that or Bluffdale days with the young men...soooo. It is fun to see just how loved and respected your mom is. I really feel proud her when I get to see that side of her. Fellow teachers, principals, parents and students all go out of their way to recognize and chat with her. I swear she was getting more attention than the bride and groom.

One of the co teachers husband lost his job too, he’s my age. Must be common.

We had an unexpectedly fun morning yesterday. Uncle Aaron asked me to take he and max fishing so that max could get his fishing merit badge. So we took our Jeeps up to silver Mesa Lake. We all went, including Abi. We spent a few hours at the lake while max proceeded to loose all of my flies and lures, plus a fair share of the rest of my tackle in the lake. At time both Aaron and I were rigging up the poles with new tackle just to see if he’d get a bite. We could see the fish rise and swim right in front of us, but no luck. During some of the down moments, your brothers and max would toss the football. Three times it went into the lake, they each took a turn swimming after it. After we exhausted the bait, we decided to follow that road above the lake. It was narrow and rough, with a few groinerfly inducing off-camber turns. We got up to just below 10,000 feet in elevation. It was spectacular. Mom was a great sport, and I forgot my worries for a moment.

Mom’s been working on her new classroom and I’ve been helping a little. I can see why her dedication has paid off for her.

Your brothers also started their jobs as sweepers this week. They seem happy doing it. Spencer and Madeline are working there too. They’ve been riding there bikes to work. It’s much quicker than the drive around.

Tonight we thought of you, we stoped by Burger King to get some nuggets because mom wanted to go to that reception. 60 nugget for less than $10 wasn’t bad. But my stomach is now paying the higher price.

Well kid, I love you. Get some sleep and I look forward to hearing about your temple day.
