Crunch Ii
Oh hi Benjer,
What a week! And that was just on Saturday...Ooooiiiiiihhhh!
So yesterday I bought a little commuter car, kind of a companion to the Pig. I’m going to call it Stubby. It’s a rebuilt Ford Fiesta ST. Rebuilt means it was totaled in a wreck and well, rebuilt. ST means it’s zippy, and has a six speed manual transmission. The justification is to save gas and wear and tear on the Jeep.
I went to go do the deal in the morning, I didn’t take your mom because, well, it was a car dealership. The Utes game was at four, and we were getting the house ready for the Bergs and Artie to come over to watch. Artie gave his tickets to your brothers, so we had to go get them.
We also had to go back to Lindon to pick up Stubby. So I was cleaning the kitchen, you’re mom was making chili, your brothers were cleaning the basement. We got a window of time to go to Lindon. Mom and I jumped into her Buick, almost forgot to pray and took off south on Redwood road. We made it to just by he NSA at the busy intersection on 2100 north. We were in the left turn lanes stopped waiting for the light to turn green when the whole world shook: loud screech and scraping, and a white blur going by on the left. Then...it seemed like time got hung-up for an instant while reality set-in. I asked mom if she was okay, she asked me the same. Next to us the truck that was waiting at the light next to us was sitting funny. Ahead of us was a long skid mark with a white Kia at the end sitting about 30 feet past us.
The federal security guy from the NSA, you know, tho one who sits in the police car sitting in front of the NSA building, was there in literally seconds. The highway patrol was there in about a minute, and the Lehi cops were there in a couple of minutes. They were all super professional, kind, and helpful (not to mention all had very fine personal grooming). The other two vehicles need to be towed away, mom’s made it home fine, though the damage is pronounced.
About as soon as we got home I took your brothers to the game. It started raining about the time we got there. I came home to watch the second and third quarters, then headed back to get your bros. They were soaked, frozen, and happy. By then I was ready to be home, and to be out of the car.
Speaking of the Utes, they’ve moved up one spot to 12 in the AP poll. Oh, and BYU beat Boise State. So you know...national champions.
Mom and I went to go pick up the car this morning...it was thankfully uneventful.
Grandma and grandpa came over for dinner. Mom made Salisbury steaks and mashed potatoes. Grandma brought three kinds of ice cream and an enormous box of cookies.
Well,enough boringness for one day.
Sure love you,
Pops
