What’s worse, BYU football or the pig?
Oh hi elder Ben,
Today was Stake conference, many of the bishops spoke, including the bishops I worked with while on the high council and our bishop, Bishop Marchant. They gave very uplifting, faith promoting talks, I enjoyed it.
After, I got to do ministering interviews. I really love the members of our ward. I really love the ministering program.
Tonight your cousin Cecily invited us over for dinner. She made really huge grandma Irene style tacos. Mom made two cheese cakes, one raspberry and one peach...so good. Your aunt Patti has a job interview tomorrow. This would be a huge pay increase for her and a far shorter commute. It would also help set her up for life post uncle Patrick. She’s naturally nervous about it and asked for a blessing. It’s amazing how openly inspiration comes to you when the person requesting the blessing is so full of faith. Cecily is having shoulder surgery on Thursday, so we gave her a healing blessing too. I’ve gotten more experience in giving blessings lately, I’m really grateful for those opportunities to exercise my Priesthood, it is amazing to think about it in terms of using the power of God.
I updated you on the Utes game, they looked truly impressive, even though it was lowly Oregon State. While not great, OSU was 24th in the nation in total offense...not anymore! I was telling Jacob that the Utes seem different to me this year, bigger, more intense, more focused. Francis Bernard is a beast. I think better than Chase Hansen. The other teams offense’s literally look scared of him, it’s really fun to watch. The Utes are now up to 13th in both the AP and ESPNs power rankings. I sure wish they could have beat USC, they could be top 5 by now.
BYU...ahh, it’s not even fun anymore. I expect them to clean house and fire the entire coaching staff this year. Then give another crew 4 years of failure and do it all over again. They seem in a bit of a death spiral right now.
Tonight I have that anxious feeling about work tomorrow morning. I never thought I’d be so happy to have that feeling back. I am so grateful Benjamin, Heavenly Father has been so kind to us. Joey wants to restore our Monday morning bagel tradition, it’s not quite the same without you.
How are the twins? I can’t recall ever hearing of someone training two elders at the same time before. I’m sure to you it’s just par for the course, but to us it seems pretty amazing. Are any other Chinese speaking elders training twins?
Have the rolling blackouts affected you? I imagine there are certain areas that would be less than ideal to find yourself in after dark with no power. Be safe my boy, you are so important to us.
Yesterday we went to pick up the loft bed that Joe ordered. We took the pig and the box barely fit, and it was heavy. We got it home, cleared out his old bed and desk, and set it up. It took a while but it’s solid. It’s a bit too close to his fan, so when he grows a little more, we’ll have to fix that.
Mom and I took all the old stuff to the DI in the pig. I was driving around all dumb and happy when on our way down Iron Horse it died again, in the exact same spot it did the first time. It’s pretty good at coasting, and while its really hard to steer and stop, if I could find a totally down hill route from home with no stop signs or traffic light to work and back I might be okay with it. For now, I just need to decide if I want to keep fighting it or just start over.
Well, that’s about all for me, Love-YA-I-tell-YA!
Pops
P.S. on Facebook, that picture mom sent me five years ago of you guys all wearing the baby Halloween masks ant Walgreens came up. That thing makes me laugh every time I see it.
