Hallmark movie season
Oh hi kid!
Guess what we’re doing? I’m actually nervous to tell you, for fear it will make you homesick, maybe for the first time. So, in fear of your contentment...we’re watching hallmark Christmas movies. Sorry Ben, I know that will tug your strings, be strong.
The Jazz were down by 40 at halftime to. The raptors, so there’s that.
The Utes are up to 5, I hope the playoff rankings on Tuesday matches. The game is on Friday, we’re not going this year. I think we’ll have a bunch of people over for the game. It’s at six, so it will be a challenge getting home from work in time. The Utes are favored by 5. The term “national champions “ keeps coming up in the media. Makes me tear up a little, also makes me a little nervous, actually a lot nervous. My fingers are crossed for the Rose bowl, anything beyond that is gravy as far as I’m concerned.
Did you know I almost punched your brother Joe in the face today, do you know why? He made the best freaking sugar cookies ever, I was forced to eat 3, with milk I might add. Darn him.
This vacation has been really great. I enjoyed being home and being with family. Thursday was so great just being family. You more or less saw who was here during your call. Grandma and grandpa, as well as uncle Stevens family had left, and my aunt and uncle didn’t come because they were nervous about the weather. Otherwise, everyone stayed and watched Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Don’t worry. We fast forward the swears. But it was still really funny, even though I’ve seen it 50 times. Mom’s turkey was amazing, and all the food was so yum. The turkey bowl was okay, you’re brothers and Jordan had a billion trick plays planned. They would have worked but for the snow, with the low visibility and slippery footballs. They still killed us, but mostly due to Mark’s three interceptions and uncle Tim’ two. The words “when Ben’s here next year...” were uttered many times.
Friday it snowed really hard. It started as mom and I were doing our shopping, it came down hard. Jordan was staying over so we all just hung out. We were going to go up to the Utes b-ball game, but didn’t feel like driving through that storm. The Utes won that one at least.
Saturday I met a childhood friend for lunch, Brad Smith. It’s like going back in time, it’s like we’ve never grown older, until I see how we’ve aged. Our hobbies and interests are still so similar to back then, and our stories are so fresh in our memories. The 70s and 80s were a really fun time to grow up.
After, I went over to your aunt patti’s to help her fix some more plumbing. I really like spending time with her and Artie. They seem to be adjusting to things, but I suspect there are more blows ahead from that cowardly uncle Patrick.
Three weeks before Christmas, things are getting busy. I hope it’s filled with good football news. Next Wednesday the b-ball team plays BYU. While I think we have a shot.
Well kid, sorry for the boring letter. Just know I love you.
Pops
P.S. your brothers built a snowman in the middle of the street, as you can imagine, your mother is tickled.
