So many freaking kids

Oh hi kid!

How’s the legs? I was looking up pictures of Concorde, looks like there is no shortage of hills. You will be strong by the time you’re done there. I also saw three churches on the map. Seems a little higher end there than Hayward or Oakland, from pictures anyway. Also looks a little drier.

We had a big dinner for mom’s side of the family today. We made two turkey breasts, Aunt Lithia brought baked potatoes, Grandma brought gravy and stuffing, mom made a delicious cake, and everybody else brought their kids—so many freaking kids. Your uncle David is here too. So far there’s been no scandals or swearing, but there’s still plenty of time for that.

The new star wars is out, it was really satisfying. I’ve really liked this trilogy and this one especially. There were no early morning showings so our tradition was broken. We went Friday night. Mom got luxury seats at the district. It was in 3D, which seems to have improved some since the last time we saw a 3D movie. Mom and I found some gospel parallels in the movie. Maybe it’s a stretch, but all good mythology has echoes of the truth in them. Those things resonate to our being, probably because we have some longing for things like that inside of is. Things like good over evil, life with family after death, even resurrection.

Today in church it was all music and only the sacrament hour. Kinda nice if you ask me.

After dinner tonight, we watched a movie on Disney+, it was called Togo. About a story in Alaska where dog teams had to get diphtheria serum for dying kids. Sound familiar? Well, according to this movie, another dog, Balto, has been mistakenly given the credit for that all of these years. Well, sorry, I just spoiled it. But it was a really great, wholesome movie that was really well done. I know we share an affinity for jack London, so of course I thought of you. Speaking of Call of the Wild, a new version with Harrison Ford is coming out soon. Not sure if it will be good, but I do love those stories so I’m sure we’ll see it sooner or later. Oh, and speaking of movies coming out, a new Christopher Nolan movie is coming out next summer called Tenet. According to IMDb: The plot is currently unknown. The project is described as an action epic revolving around international espionage, time travel, and evolution. so it should be good.

The Utes had a decent road trip. San Diego state was far better than Kentucky, and the Utes played far worse. But hey, splitting a road trip that tough isn’t half bad. And they’re 8-3, which in recent times for Utah basketball, isn’t bad either.

Can I admit that I’m not even following the Jazz? They’re on a five game streak, but I honestly liked last year’s team so much better. Connelly is not better than Rubio, we miss the toughness of favors and crowder, and the bench is terrible. Bobdonovic is the only good new player. I think I sound like Jacob.

Well, Christmas is almost here. I find myself getting impatient with gifts and crap. You know I’m one to like stuff, material things. But this year it just has a different feeling, maybe I’m just getting old and cynical. I hope you’re Christmas is different. I was in a new area for my second Christmas too. I had just gone English only too. It made me feel very out of place. But we did have really great members and the holiday was a little closer to home being on the US side of the boarder. That ended up being a really great area for me. I had more success in that 5 months, with two really immature companions then in the rest of my time out. It was a good area.

Love you kid. My guess is your P-day will be short and your Christmas will be open. I hope we can chat with you a little tomorrow and a lot on Wednesday. Be patient with our questions and we love the pictures you send.
