Explosive seafood

Oh hi kid,

Things are pretty quiet down here. Hope this finds you well.

Well, the Utes are terrible on the road, the got swept on the Oregon trip. They have these super long streaks of not scoring that they can never recover from. Timmy Allen isn’t producing much these days. They just look like a young team.

On a good basketball note, last Thursday Jacobs priest’s team played the 8th Ward. Looked to me like they brought in a ringer. Some football player looking kid that I never saw when I was serving as high councilor in that ward. Jacob has a goofy buddy on that team that was trash talking him all week, saying that they were going to shut jacob down etc. now I have to admit that I only saw the 4th quarter, I’ll tell you why next paragraph. But our boys had the lead when I got there. I don’t know what lead up to this, but things were pretty chippy between Jacob, that kid, and that whole team. That kid wasn’t any bigger than jake, but his muscles were more cut, like he worked out. He also had a jock knee brace on...you know the type. By the time I got there the kid was red faced, and mad. Jacob kept beating that kid to the rebounds, out fighting him for the boards underneath, shooting over him and driving on him. On one rebound, they both came down with the ball and that kid threw Jacob to the floor. Jacob came right back up, got in his face and scored on him. They’re bench was booing the ref when jacob fell to a knee and kept up the dribble. They wanted traveling. Jake put his finger to his lips to shush the bench, it was pretty funny. Joe is the only teacher they let play. He had an epic block on a three pointer. I’d really rather watch the Bluffdale 14th Ward priest's and teachers play than the Utes or the Jazz.

Thursday night after work, (you’re going to think, “that’s just boring enough that my dad would go to this) I went downtown to a map app class. It was great. Very informative. I plan on using it for our Death Valley trip. I notice that many of the people that consider themselves “overlanders” seem to like gear and tech more than experience or adventure. They think they like the latter, but they only discuss the formal. The majority also sport long, styled beards, name brand matching clothing, som with berrets. You find yourself superior if you drive a Toyota, no matter how crappy. It was interesting however.

Saturday we had a food adventure. We’ve been watching this show, Alone where the leave people to survive in the Canadian wilderness, each alone. Some have been surviving on crabs, they make them look delicious. So your brothers wanted to try it. So we went with grandma and grandpa to the Red Lobster. Your brothers got crab, I got lobster and shrimp, your mom got clam chowder and coconut shrimp. It was pretty good, but we all decided that we didn’t need to eat there every day. I did think that San Francisco would probably have some pretty good seafood though. I’m not sure what did this, the lobster or taking my medication on an empty stomach. But I had the most explosive reaction all afternoon after we ate.

Tomorrow I have a trip planned for green river. We’ll see the missile base again, maybe try to explore the buildings a little more this time. I also want to go see the Cisco ghost town, Thompson springs, sego ghost town, the rock art and cemetery there, and maybe some mild Jeep trails. We’ll se if anyone wakes and or shows up.

I’m in a conundrum at work. I’ve interviewed two good candidates for a temp designer position. One being a friend of mine. I’ve been as fair as I can be, though I must admit I have a bias for hiring my former employee and friend Jason. Well, I decided to pray about my decision... and...I got a strong feeling in favor of the other candidate. Dang! So now I have to work this out. I fasted over it today. I did not pray for a reversal of that inspiration (though I kinda hope for that), but just that I would do the right thing. I decided to take Jason for lunch and just tell him.then hope to know what to do next. Being on this side of the interview process is harder than I remember, though still easier than looking for a job. I guess last year taught me something.

Well, Love-YA-I-tell-YA!
