Jojo rabbit
O hi benjer,
As I go through my days I try to make a mental note of the things I would like to put in my letters to you. Most of them are trivial, but have an amusing side to them. Then somehow when I finally find a quiet moment to write to you, usually pretty late while I’m just getting in bed, I find my mental notebook looks like it’s gone through the wash, with all the thought blurred together and washed away.
Thursday after work I picked jacob up from tutoring. He was in a fairly pleasant mood, I hope between this and the visits with his teacher, he can begin to catch up.
Friday night we watched a movie called Jojo Rabbit. Because of that name alone I avoided watching it. It was about a little boy who was part of the nazi youth towards the end of ww2. It was kind of an absurd fantasy, mixed with the horrible reality of that period. The acting was good, the characters were good...overall pretty well done. Obviously, bring Hollywood, it was commentary of the absurdities of our current political climate, and a warning of the potential future outcomes if we keep on this path. Jacob is beginning to be really thoughtful about movies, or “films” as you and my dad prefer to call them. It fun to discuss movies besides marvel and Star Wars for a change.
Saturday your brothers both had games. The priests lost, because they’re all checkers, and the teachers won. Joey gets to play in both games. His 3 is still deadly. I think the teachers are going to regionals, not sure about the priests, but I’d be surprised if they did.
Saturday night mom and I went to dinner at hires with my friend Scott and his wife and my spazzing cousin Estrella and clary. She pretty much spent the whole night talking about Annie. Once again Ben, I am so grateful for you and the utter lack of drama you bring to your service. I’m proud of you always. And know that I’m sincere in wanting to help you with your needs. Even up to buying a bike would pale compared to the requests other missionaries ask for.
Earlier Saturday we found the celestial kingdom (analogy too far?) of rc car bashing venues. There’s an enormous gravel pit just to the south west of us here in bluffdale. Just beyond view east of the river and tracks. It has wide open running and steep smooth slopes to play on. We’re having a ton of fun, but my rc parts Bill is climbing. I made a deal with joe that I would buy the replacements for any broken parts, so he drive fearlessly. Today one of his shock ripped right of. He also tore his bumper/wheels bar. I broke a suspension arm and a drive joint. But man is it fun.
Today I got to teach in elders quorum. We discussed president Neilson’s talk: Spiritual treasures. It went pretty well, it’s a powerful talk.
Well, I better get to sleep, sure love ya kid.
