Almost no football in this one

 Oh hi Jacob,

Holy crap, I cannot stay awake this afternoon it’s only 8:10 and it feels like it’s 11. I think it’s partly because of the time change, partly because I’m finally over my cold (mostly over it anyway), and partly because I’m done with my lesson. I always feel a sense of relief when I get through those.

We were finally back in the relief society room for Sunday school today because the chapel was being used for primary practice. I did one of my classic multi media presentations and I think it went pretty well. It was about family history and temple work, not always my strength. But, I really like the way the come follow me lesson was set up. !Braggy dad warning! I had several people tell me that I’m the best teacher, their favorite. That’s actually pretty gratifying. It has me wondering if there’s something along those lines that I can do in my next career. Not like a school teacher like mom, but something where I can teach, and share and speak in front of people. Too bad missions don’t pay salaries.

Because of my cold the rest of this week was pretty quiet too. Friday night was the Utah game, what total domination. They really looked perfect. It has a little hollow feeling because Stanford was just so utterly bad, they’re so depleted with injuries etc. I have no idea how they beat Oregon. Speaking of Oregon, people are feeling less certain that they can beat the Utes at the end of the season, much less beat them twice if they make it to the championship game. One idiot on sports talk said the Utes should let Oregon win at the end of the season to make sure they get to the playoffs. I say play and beat all comers. We had the cooks over to was really fun. It was like old times. 

Saturday I painted the shed, I still have to paint the trim but it’s looking pretty good. I also got two coats of floor paint down. We’ll see if it really gets the garage cleaned up or not.

Later that afternoon we went to go see the externals. It just sucked. It was just a bunch of whiny, weird deity characters complaining about very non eternal things. The actors were all a little weird looking. It seems it was cast more for inclusion than for anything else. Even the production design was clunky and overly complicated. I hated it, I’m sure your uncles loved it. I think that the reason I hate these indestructible super heroes like these ones and Superman is because they take the god like characters and try super hard to make them petty and small and too into their most base desires and motivations. There’s never anything noble or selfless about them. I think that was the secret to the avengers. When it connected they could demonstrate those higher motivations, and we loved that.

K, too much time on Marvel for your dad, I feel shallow now.

BYU beat Idaho state 58-14. I haven’t seen if that’s done anything to their ranking. I think you should automatically drop at least two spots just for playing teams like that, and an additional spot for every score they get on you. Ben did tell me that Utah is 24 in the ESPN rankings. I hope they can climb a little more.

This morning I got a call from aunt patti telling me that her house was robbed overnight. Everyone was home including Artie and the Harrison’s. They got a bunch of computers, Artie’s guitar, and some other stuff. The thing that really struck me was how calm she was on her call with me. She has become so strong over all these challenges. As the world takes so much from her, the Lord has given her so much in the form of faith and strength. I think missions are kinda the same. But in your case, you give up so much of the world and the Lord replaces it with stuff that’s so much better.
