Have fun at the independence bowl chumps!
Oh hi kid,
I’m writing earlier than normal, let’s see if it makes my letter any more coherent.
Imagine 72 straight hours in a van with that cousin of moms that ranted about members of the church rooting fit the the Utes. Poor grandma. I’ll bet she will have some good uncle Tim stories though. They went to the BYU usc game. BYU barely held on at the end. USC scored 31 points yet the Deseret news described BYU’s defense as “stifling”. Social media is buzzing with memes about byu winning the pac12 south. Oh brother, have fun at the independence bowl chumps!
Friday we went to breakfast with aunt Stella and uncle temmy. We went to black bear diner. Aunt patti and the bergs came. It was nice to be together. We came home to watch the game. The cooks came over. It was a good game, but I was a little sleepy from all the turkey.
After, mom wanted to go to hobby lobby, I was listening to the post game show while she was in there. I guess it was too crowded even for her. After that we went to Sam’s and Walmart to check for left over Black Friday deals. No luck, but we did get some shots. Mom went nuts and got the COVID booster, the flu shot, and a shingles vaccine that the pharmacist talked us into. I only got the Covid and the shingles shots. That dang shingles shot hurt like a sucker. That reminded me of your vaccinations getting ready to go to Mexico. We watched the first bit of the Beatles documentary by Peter Jackson. It was interesting to watch the creative process they went through. You hear Paul working out some of those iconic songs by humming them and strumming them. Then working them out with the band. So genius. On the other hand, it captures every last freaking detail so it got a bit dull.
Saturday I somehow let Joey talk me into going to Home Depot to get Christmas lights, then we spent the next 5 hours putting them up. I was feeling pretty cocky because the shots hadn’t made me sick like they did mom. But as the day wore on, I started feeling really old and feeble. Even though Joey did maybe half of the lights, I couldn’t believe how hard it started to feel to climb the ladder. It was getting late and we were going to go to the game. So when we came in all of my muscles were sore and I was shaking. I thought, holy crap am I old and worthless. But then I grabbed the thermometer and my temperature was 101.8… umm, the good news is that I’m not a completely feeble old man, the bad news was I wasn’t going to the game. You’re brothers didn’t seem to mind going without me, and I didn’t mind taking a long hot shower. I watched the game on tv, mom went to bed.
This morning I looked forward to being sick for church, but no such luck, I felt fine. I did sleep through a large portion of sacrament meeting, then I came home early. I was released from my gospel doctrine class and sustained to the young men. I’ll teach next week as whoever was called declined. You know how I feel about people saying no to a calling. I went to hear mom speak in the 10th ward. She did amazing. It was fun to see my friends from that ward from when I served on the high council there. I saw bishop peck, who’s one of my favorites. We also saw Andy Hansen, it was super fun to see them both.
Ben and Joey made hot browns out of thanksgiving leftovers. Basically fancy hot turkey sandwiches, pretty good actually.
Now we’re watching a slew of mom style Netflix movies, you can picture those for yourself.
Next week at work is going to be pretty busy, especially tomorrow. But I look forward to texting and chatting with you. I’m looking forward to the game. Oregon is now ranked 10th, Utah is ranked 14th. I think the Utes can do it, it almost seems like destiny.
Well kid, you got plenty from me this week, stay safe please. I love you with everything I am.
Pops
