Devils Castle

Oh hi kid,

I woke up a little early this morning and realized I didn’t write last night. Things have been fairly quiet around here so I imagine this will be on the short side.

I have an interview today at 11, with a company in Lehi. It’s an mlm, in which I have a ton of experience. It’s for a Creative manager, also fitting me well. I’ll give you an update if and when there is one.

It was strange this week not having a Tuesday Bishopric meeting or going to mutual last night. It was nice being with your mom though.

Yesterday I went on a fun hike to Cecret lake at the top of Alta. Just above where we took our family portraits. If you remember, we bypassed a toll gate when we went, that’s where I started the hike. I followed that road for about half a mile, then the trail went up through the bottom of Albion basin, where the wildflowers were. They’re already mostly gone, but there is still a ton of insect life there. The snapping crickets, buzzing bees, even some moths or butterflies that made a snapping sound. Halfway up I came to a restaurant the top of one of the lifts that was undergoing massive construction with workers, cement trucks, concrete pumps, loaders etc. all that sound was a pretty stark contrast to the insects half a mile before. Additionally , helicopters were overhead constantly. It looked like the were working on a fire, but I saw hi smoke. As a passed that area things started getting a truly alpine feeling. The meadows gave way to forest which gave way to rocks, scree and switchbacks . At the top was Cecret lake surrounded by cliff known as Devils Castle. It was spectacularly beautiful. There were a few people up there, but not too bad. Just beyond one side of the like there was the top of the highest ski lift, complete with gravel road and warming shack, but it wasn’t directly in sight from the lake, you had to climb a rise to have the serenity shattered. In all the hike was just under 5 miles and 1500 foot elevation gain. I was pretty tired by the end, but it was well worth it.
