Pie
O hi Ben,
I’m starting this letter early in the afternoon. Today was a different kind of Sunday. Erin’s homecoming was today so we went to that ward. She gave a nice talk, it was fun to hear her stories. Uncle Tim gave the second talk. It was very similar to having a regular conversation with him where it wanders a bit and he does most (all) of the talking. We went over to his house after, aunt Lithia had muffins, pastries, and a whole bunch of Krispy Kreme donuts. We didn’t stay too long. That was our church for the day, but we did do Come Follow Me after. It was Joe’s turn to lead the discussion. Now we’re just killing time waiting to go to grandmas house by flipping between football and sponge bob reruns.
We just got home from grandmas. She had steak, pork chops, baked potatoes, salads and fixings. She had her fat boy ice cream cake for dessert. She takes good care of us. Mom’s makes sandwiches for you brothers with the leftovers, then they raid her pantry for chips, drinks and treats. I probably should feel guilty over it, but I’m pretty sure she’d do it if I was working or not.
Last night mom and Joe made a peach pie, I was pretty darn good. Joe took some to grandma and grandpa. Grandpa told grandma that she needs to take pie making lessons from Joe...that Diego over too well with grandma.
Yesterday was kind of a football day, even though we stayed home. The Utes coasted against Idaho State as you know. The rankings are out. In the ESPN power rankings the Utes are #9, the AP poll has them at #10. There are 6 pac 10 teams in the top 25, Utah, Washington State, Washington, Oregon, and Your (according to mom) Cal Bears, not too shabby. USC was knocked out due to their overtime loss to BYU, and now BYU fans are demanding to be ranked. I’m pretty confident that both USC and Tennessee will both be firing their coaches this year, with the loss to BYU being the main cause. I’m looking forward to Friday’s game vs USC, even as down as they are, it will be the Utes first real test.
On the job front, I think I’m going to be offered an ongoing freelance job. Not really enough to sustain us, but it could be something. This week and last I’ve been having reoccurring airplane dreams, this time the positive ones with the high performance jets flight fast, ascending high, and demonstrating power. These dreams, both these and the terrifying crashing ones still puzzle me, though I have enough experience to know that they do correlate with upcoming events in my (our) life. Months ago, maybe before I lost my job, I applied for a position at NuSkin. Friday late in the afternoon I got an email from them saying that they were impressed by my portfolio and reel and that they would like me to do a recorded online interview with them. Less than an hour later when mom and I were out to dinner at the Thai House restaurant in American Fork, I saw two of my colleagues from Neways whom I haven’t seen for at least 10 years and who are both now currently working at NuSkin and who both said that the would be more than happy to put a word in for me. I don’t know the outcome, and things like this move slowly, but it was good news for a change. I’ll do that interview tomorrow when it’s quiet. I’ll keep you posted and we’ll all keep praying.
Thursday night I had a date with Aunt Patti at the RV Show. Mom had training for the new Church youth program and your brothers declined to come. It was a good escape for the both of us, especially relaxing because neither of us had the pressure of the means to be able to think about a purchase of any kind.
Well, as always, looking forward to Communicating with you tomorrow.
Love
Pops
P.S. today my friend Scott Cragun sent me some photos from the mission he found. I look like I’m about Joey’s age in them, I’m about half my current size, and I have all that shiny black stuff on my head. Here’s a collage
