Utes ranked 11
Oh hi kid,
It’s Sunday night, we’re going to watch a little Return of the King before bedtime. Your brothers have started reciting all the lines. We had dinner at Aunt Patti’s today, roast beef and mashed potatoes like grandma Irene used to make. Mom made this yummy chocolate cake with whipped and sour cream frosting with cherry pie filling on top...so yum.
Well, I got a new calling, second councilor in the Elders Quorum Presidency. Andy Hansen has been called as President and Bryan Elwood as first councilor. I really admire both of those brothers and I look forward to serving with them.
I had an interview on Thursday, it went well, but by Friday I got the news that they had filled it, so the search continues. I did hear back from the guy at Henry Schien regarding my multiple check ins. He said he’d call me this week, so while I’m not going to let my hopes get too high, at least it’s not an outright rejection.
I’ve been praying about getting into my deeper savings, I received a pretty strong impression that I shouldn’t, so I hope that there is something waiting for us within the next month or two.
Moving on to sports, I sent you the report on the Utes. The AP poll has them at 11, the ESPN power poll has them at 9, pretty exciting stuff. Next week we have Idaho state, so I don’t expect much increase.
Mark came over yesterday to watch the BYU game. Both teams looked pretty average. It did go into double overtime which was actually pretty exciting and for a brief moment Zach Wilson almost looked worthy of the hype. For a little context, Tennessee was upset by Georgia state last week, which was rated as the fourth biggest upset in college football history.
In PAC 12 news, your Cal Bears upset Washington after a two and a half hour weather delay. Virtually no one was left in the stands. Hawaii is no 2-0 against the PAC 12, they beat Oregon State. USC creamed Stanford, so they may be a worthy foe in the Collisium.
On Fox sports Urban Meyer was explaining the run-pass option. It was fun because he credits a broken play by Alex Smith during practice at the UofU.
This week is Jacobs birthday. We’ll probably go to dinner on Tuesday. I gave him a gift card to help him pay for his bike a few weeks back.
Well, I’ll sign off for now. I really love you Ben,
Pops
