Spray Cheese

Oh hi kid,

It was fun to talk to you on Monday. Everyone who has seen the photos you sent (mom, grandma, aunt Patti and the like) all say how happy you look, and I have to agree. 

I heard back on the counteroffer yesterday. They came back with a $5,000 increase rather than $15,000 I requested. Of course, I accepted it instantly. I figure I'm still way ahead from where I was at Xactware, so for the cost of a letter I made five grand. So I signed the offer yesterday and filled out the info for the background check. This morning I got to go pee in a cup for drug screening. I'm still hoping to start October 7, and, in your terms, avoid destitution.

Yesterday your cousin Cecily asked me to make her a lap desk, so we went to my favorite woodworking store in Orem and she bought a gorgeous walnut plank. Today I milled it up and glued up two blanks for two lap desk surfaces. It was fun using my tools again, and this is a good simple project to get back on this again. I forget how the sawdust irritates my sinuses.

Today Jake was off of school. We had visions of Jim’s breakfast and a day of shooting planned, but instead we drove all over picking up his check, going to deposit it, and going to his teacher conferences. Felt like I was in the jeep half of the day. 

Tonight for young men Jacob and the priests played football and Joseph and the teachers went to the family history facility in Lehi. I don’t miss going.

There’s a leak in the Jeeps radiator, add that to the growing list of maintenance I need to do on her, oil change (easy), replace the clock spring (hard), change the transmission fluid (hard and messy and potentially painful), the radiator looks like an intermediate job, easier than the one on the Cherokee, the last one I replaced. Come to think of it, this years been big for maintenance on the Jeep, tires, shocks, brakes and fuel system. Why do I like it again?
